Westland Sherry Cask. Perhaps I just don’t like sherry but it’s a sherry bomb unlike any other. Sulphuric and syrupy. Their flagship and peated whiskey is great though.

If you want a semi-decent American sherried single malt I'd recommend Stranahan's as they actually use some decent barrels but I just wish it was aged a bit longer.

I didn't even know they had a sherry release, I'll keep an eye out. I know they do primary aging in brand new barrels and malt whiskey doesn't hold up nearly as well when in fresh charred oak over a long time. Have you had Copperworks? Another single malt distillery out of Seattle. Don't know if they distribute out of state though.

Highly rated and recommended by some bartenders that conveniently didn't have any to get a single from. Buy it when I had a gift certificate one day and share a first try with a friend. Both agree its bland, uninteresting and just forgettable. Haven't touched it since, it exists as a reminder to me to not buy before you try

Peated whiskey has nothing to do with the barrel. The peat smoke is used on the grains prior to distillation.
To be fair though, a "peat barrel" can refer to a barrel that previously held peated whiskey.

Just picked this up on a discount and it tastes so damn good. Smell and taste is similar to other 12 year highlands I've had before but has a really nice strong fruity aftertaste. Absolutely recommend to anyone for sure and the price is right

it's always overpriced where i live, but sounds even more expensive where you are. i have to buy multiple bottles to get a regular price.

I normally like to keep try new whiskies and keep a mental note of good brands. When I finish one, I don't typically buy it again and will get a different one.
