New Englander here, going on an impromptu work trip to the midwest next week (Indianapolis). What are some foods/restaurants I should try that are hard to get in the northeast?

Breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, aka schnitzel on a bun with pickles, mustard, and onion. That’s about it.

I was going to say Steak n Shake but I think those exist in New England too.

If you find yourself downtown (near the Circle), St. Elmo’s is considered a nice local steakhouse for Indianapolis. Here are some other places to try if you can travel outside the city center:

>Twenty Tap (Broad Ripple)
20 craft beer taps and nice sandwiches. Their Cuban is good.

>Jockamo’s Pizza/Black Acre Brewing (Irvington)
Good pizza joint with a brewpub next door. Bazbeaux’s in Broad Ripple has solid pizza too.

>Nickel Plate/Four Day Ray (Fishers)
Good spots to get a pork tenderloin sandwich if you want one. This is in Hamilton County, so it might not be feasible if you’re downtown for work.
