When you come across a food you don't like, do you try it again later?
I have tried and retired ginger at least a thousand times and I still don't like it. I keep hoping I'll appreciate it the next time round. I have acquired other tastes this way, like fish and fermented foods.

I've done that before, to see if the ingredient is actually bad or if it was just cooked terribly. Brussel sprouts taste good when roasted.

Unrelated note, but I feel bad for you, son. I love ginger. Pic related is the nectar of the heavens.

it depends on why you don't like them, like I have a psychological problem with fish roe... I just can't seem to get over it no matter how many times I try. But if it's just the flavor, I would try diluting it, which should be easy with ginger as it's part of the base for many dishes. Just slowly up the ginger content and you'll soon be drinking ginger beer and eating ginger snaps

Yes drinks like those are why I wish I liked ginger. It's a shame because I like funky flavors like home-fermented root beers, mead, kombucha etc. Sometimes I use ginger bug as starter but not for the taste.

Yes.
There's so much food I hated at first then LOVED so it's worth it.
Celery and mushrooms are 2 things I can't get over though... I still eat mushrooms all the time even though I don't like them, because it's kinda rude to not eat food that's been cooked for you.
Plus I used to eat a fucking shitload of magic mushrooms back in the day.

I keep trying to find a way I can prepare asparagus so that I'll actually like it. No luck so far though.

Steamed/roasted/sauteed is usually good. But it still makes your pee smell.

Quiche. I get actual cravings for it but I don't like it... No idea why
