I have a few questions to the people who boil their eggs for less than 5/6 minutes

Do you enjoy slime in general?
Do you like the texture of slimey egg whites?
What is it about slimey egg whites that you like? Or have you not given any thought to the slime?

I ate that a few minutes ago, and its more or less my ideal eggs. Boiled for 8 minutes and 30 secs, which provides a yolk thats somewhat runny, but ensures the whites are fully set.

I think slimey egg whites is disgusting, which is why I want to understand why so many people eat them. In my experience the whites are slimey if you cook them for less than 5/6 minutes

I agree 100%. I think your eggs are pretty much perfect, except if they have to last more than a week, I'd probably cook them another 2 minutes. Better to optimize for delicious rather than some probably-won't-happen circumstance.

My secret favorite thing is to take eggs like yours, smear them on a warm english muffin, smear avocado over the top of the eggs, and hit it with salt & pepper & a dribble of hot sauce.

Interesting texture because it's different from most food, it's not rough. It's not hard and smooth at the same time, it's malleable. The same reason I like the texture of chicken skin or rendered fat. Importantly, it has a nice taste alongside that texture. It would be unpleasant if it didn't have a nice flavor obviously.

If you start the eggs in cold water, by 5 or 6 minutes they're almost fully cooked. The white is fully cooked after 3 minutes or so. White should be fully cooked but runny yolk is delicious.

Uncooked egg whites remind more of uneven jello, or jellyfish, in terms that is jiggle back and forth if you shake the plate it lies on.

They probably heat up the water with the eggs inside ane count the time from when it starts boiling. If you wait 8-9 minutes with that method you'll have a hard boiled egg.
