It has nothing to do with fucking poor and everything to do with your parents can't bother to learn to cook.

The two are heavily correlated.

Most blacks dont know how to cook. It usually falls on the elder

similar story. grew up eating congee and fried spam, never had salt or pepper at the table. didn't even realize food could taste good until i went on a school trip with meals provided.

the meme that black's know how to cook is just that, it's a meme. a lot can cook, just like a lot of whites can cook. Poverty is definitely a huge factor in whether or not they eat like a slob or not

My mom once burned a pot of rice.
In the microwave.
The pot had water in it.

Not when all it takes is $0.10 of spices to make a meal not bland. It doesn't even have to be good it will still have flavour. What you have is uneducated parents. No one is too poor for salt

Black slaves made the entirety of southern food culture with nothing less than fat and bones that their slave owners gave them

Being poor isn't an excuse ur parents just sucked

Fucking lol, your just jealous. I've never met a black woman who couldn't cook.

The funniest shit is that diversity produces the best food. Bring something from somewhere and put it somewhere else and you create some of the world's best dishes.

This. My mother and grandma were poor as fuck but great cooks. Knew how to do a lot with not many ingredients. But some families just never learn the knack.

My friends' mother never knew how to cook shit, her "spaghetti" was unseasoned mince with noodles and store brand ketchup. Fucking revolting. And my middle class gf is an okay cook but everyone else in her family is a fat bitch that just eats KFC five nights a week and greasy ass lasagna the other two.

I wanted to cry every week my mom made pork, it would stick to the roof and sides of my mouth and had no seasoning, just the flavor of being overcooked in the oven. She will not use black pepper because it's too spicy. I had no clue how incompetent she was until I moved out

Mom would make spaghetti with pineapples in jarred marinara. Shed cook it in a slow cooker unseasoned and with hotdogs. Another time she boiled ribs and used McDonalds BBQ sauce to glaze them and threw them in the broiler. Pretty much refused anything she would ever make.

I had an aunt that cooked brussel sprouts by boiling them into a bland chewy mush.

OP didn't say they couldn't afford salt. It's entirely possible they used no seasoning at all because they were afraid of muh evil salt monster, or because they were simply bad cooks. Poverty is not necessarily the motivation for lack of salt.
