>Despite the retrofit program, the problems persisted. According to data from the CPSC, an additional 249 reported incidents included 77 burns, 16 of which were second- or third-degree in nature. On July 19th 2007, Hasbro re-issued its voluntary recall of the Easy-Bake after learning that part of a 5-year-old girl's finger had to be amputated because of a severe burn

>be me, 7 or 8 y/o little girl
>have an easy bake oven because I've always loved to cook and bake
>bake a 2-layer golden cake for my mom who is at work for an extra long shift
>frost it with chocolate frosting and assortment of sprinkles
>get dad to drive me ~30 minutes to mom's work (at a hospital) to deliver the shitty easy bake cake I made for her
>she complains about the chocolate frosting and won't eat it
>end up giving it to the secretary in her department
>soon after find my easy bake oven in a pile of garage sale things despite my avid love for it
>save it
>months later the oven won't work
>dad finds out the bulb is blown and gets the bulb (heat element) replaced
>when taking it apart to replace the bulb, we find my "lost" favorite stuffed animal toy INSIDE the easy bake oven ready to be roasted
my easy bake oven helped clue me in early in life to the fact that my mother hated having children and was ready to act like a petty bitch at any cost.
thanks easy bake for helping me grow up fast enough to outrun the bitch

I remember when these things used a 100 watt incandescent light bulb as a heat source.
So did my Lite-Brite. I miss when toys were somewhat dangerous. Thats what makes them fun and a learning experience. Lawn darts were awesome. And taking the entire roll of caps and smashing it with a rock. See-saws at the park. Kids today are fucking lame.

Had to beg my folks to get one. All my life I've had a weird thing about saving shit, and so I could never figure a "special occasion" to use it, and I never ended up using all the best ones that I actually wanted to eat, I only used the ones that I didn't care about.
I also got that creepy crawler thing which was kindof like the boys version of the easy-bake-oven. I used the shit out of that thing that thing was so damn cool.

They even dumbed down the spring toys in playgrounds.
I miss the old ones that were made out of old truck springs that you could get trying to chuck you face first into the gravel.
