I live in Canada and Corrections Canada has a massive shortage of recruits. You get sent to Ottawa to train for a few months then pick a few locations you want to work at. Some of the new Corrections Officers are working 10-20 hours of overtime a week and banking months of vacation or cashing out to pull in 100k+. Border Services Canada is also hiring like crazy and again you just need a highschool diploma. The RCMP is also hiring a bunch and pays similar. There's also a massive shortage of elevator technicians (30-40/hr), general trades (20-40+/hr), Pilots (I know a few young guys pulling in 70k+ only 3-4 years in), Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (35/hr) and those are all jobs you only need about 1-2 years of training for. Stop blaming society for being a failure, there's so many opportunities right now and you only have yourself to blame for not taking advantage of them.

The problem is, why would a college student or high school kid even bother working at a place where they treat you like shit? The good ones will leave, and eventually you'll just get actual idiots and convicted felons working at your Sonic and business will slump, and you lose the capitalist game.

c)are a federal employee getting fired without a very good reason
In most at-will states, you can literally fire someone if he just "doesn't suit the company" or something. My manager was working another job and started just leaving her duties for me and my coworker to do, like taking out trash and tearing down boxes. One night I just left her shit so she'd see it in the morning, she wrote a huge angry note on a whiteboard in the back, and left me with someone to train. I just walked out and left the dude there alone, she had to get excused from her 2nd job to go take care of her first. She was a huge bitch about giving me my last paycheck so my coworker did the same thing to her during a graveyard shift while training someone else.

>Minimum wage + tips (not 'strictly' taxed)
or
>tips+however much to total minimum wage
End result is less pay, with people's kind gestures being taxed so that the employer can pay them less than minimum wage, effectively making tippers pay a portion of their minimum wage. It also means all the tips have to be taxed, so the consumer is effectively paying their income tax, too.

The argument is that it keeps food costs low but if you're expected to tip and pay the employees wages and taxes that should be considered part of the food cost

No, you've clearly never had to work a shit job in your pampered life. It's not the same as losing some people when the new year starts or having college kids move out of town. Losing your entire staff even if they're low skilled is a death sentence. You have to spend so much time getting them up to being at a competent level and you have no one to train them.

Passive-aggressiveness would be acting shitty to customers, while continuing to make wage+tips. It usually connotates an indirect, ineffective way of "getting back at" some past transgression or perceived transgression, without actually addressing the main issue

A certain amount of passive-aggression is necessary to function in society. If I punched every person who irritated me, I'd be in prison. So in that sense, we all are passive-aggressive. But in an everyday practical sense, aggression/anger are healthy. They should be handled by punching a pillow, or jogging, or crying, or talking to a loved one or etc. Then, once the human emotions of the situation have been mitigated, address the person or issue with words and try to find a workable solution.

A "mass exit" is immature in this instance. All that really happened was that these individuals learned a basic lesson - if a company is doing things you don't like, either decide the job is still worth it and do your best like an adult, or give notice of resignation and part ways with them like an adult. Two options. Pick one. No dragging ass, showing up drunk, etc. All that will do is get you fired and a bad reference for future work.
