I had literally $20 for the next month for food, and I went to a local food bank for help. What I thought would happen and what really happened were very different. They were super nice, didn’t ask a lot of probing questions, just what was necessary. I must have carried out $200 worth of food and it was kind of almost against my will, as I only wanted the minimum to survive. If you think about it though, they are better experts in the local area than you are, particularly if you end up needing someone like them.

In short, it completely changed my mind and I have convinced myself that I will donate to these groups the moment I can, which is shortly because I got a job on probation status but in 23 days I’m golden.
