Are corn dogs uniquely American? How do you like your corn dogs? Mustard or ketchup?

I feel bad that I've never tried making them. In my lesser days I would buy a big pack of the frozen ones and eat them with a mix of mustard and ketchup.

I have a feeling something similar exists in a few different places, but specifically frankfurter wurst (and spinoffs) being put on a stick, dipped in a corn batter and fried is probably 100% American.

One of the more interesting things I've seen recently in the same form (item on a stick dipped in batter and fried) are extra-large mozzarella sticks. Take a cylinder of mozzarella, put it on a stick, dip it in a seasoned her batter and fry it, then dip that in marinara.

Yes, they are uniquely American. There's literally no possible way for europoors to spin it otherwise. Like most cheap hot dog based food items, most people grow up eating them with ketchup, then move on to mustard.

You've reminded me of the time I used cooked chicken tenderloin pieces as a substitute for the meat in Pigs in a Blanket. It was pretty good, they worked both with honey mustard and barbecue sauce.

UK version is a Battered Sausage.
We get them from the cip show.
Same wheat flour batter we'd use for frying fish.
Normally they are a low quality yet high pork sausage.

"Cheese hot dogs" are popular in Japan now. They're a Korean street food, basically a giant mozzarella stick. When I first tried it I assumed it would be like a corn dog with cheese inside, I didn't realize the "hot dog" would actually just be cheese!

I am irrationally irritated with you asking this fucking question because a day ago I deleted my entire folder of photos of politicians eating corndogs under the assumption I would not need 35 pictures of Rick Perry eating a corndog. Turns out I was wrong... Anyways the I like a Louisiana hotlink dipped in jalapeno cornbread batter served with a spicy and bitter mustard and ketchup. Also a corndog doesn't need a side in my opinion but if you had to give it one I would say a lightly dressed vinegary coleslaw or bread and butter pickles in a small cup.
