I sometimes go to the counter to pay is the waitress is taking forever to get to me despite trying to get archived. They almost always seem pissed off when I do this like they think I have all the time in the world to waste waiting for the bill. Asian restaurants generally don't seem bothered by me trying to pay at the counter to get the fuck out quickly though.

If you're in a hurry, flag them down and ask for the bill. But 9 times out of 10 waiters in the US are pushy and overbearing and want you to get the fuck out so they can get the next tip, so they'll give you the check the second you look like you're finished eating. The worst is when they already have the check printed when they come ask if you want dessert, so if you say no they can hand it to you immediately.
