He also has 1 million subscribers. If he can get just $1 from 10% of his audience through Patreon, that's a six figure income. I'm just speculating, I don't know what his actual figures are. I also don't know what he earns through YouTube monetization. If it were me, I wouldn't dismiss this as a quirky hobby. I'd try to put out 1 video per week, or at least 1 video bi-weekly.
