I'm using a piece of shit pasta maker. It cost 17 dollars and performs like shit, but it still makes pasta.

Is fresh pasta really worth the effort/investment in a machine over boxed stuff? Im sure it’s better but is it really that different?

Boil it for a couple minutes.

I don't think so. Not when you can buy fresh pasta so cheaply.

You can try it and decide for yourself without getting a machine, though. Roll the dough flat and use a knife or pizza cutter to cut it into fettuccine.

Gotta rinse it or the starch will make it stick together.

I plan on doing that this week. I haven't had fresh home made pasta before so I'm curious about taste; so long as I don't fuck up somehow

>> No.11895698

>>11895690
It is pretty hard to fuck up. The taste is, fresher. Depends on the flour you use. I used to assist kids cooking classes as a teen and 8-12 year olds can make fresh pasta with a demonstration first and light assistance. You should be fine. You just roll it through increasingly thinner settings until the thinnest setting then attach a cutting blade and cut it into strips.

most people enjoy the chew with dried pasta, you don't get that with fresh.

A close up of the ramen. Tsukemen sauce is reduced beef marrow stock with black garlic oil. Toppings are chile menma, marinated egg, and sous vide pork shoulder chashu.

Well I don't have any pasta appliances.
I assume I'll just roll it out until thin and try cut strips with a pizza cutter. Should be able to get fettuccine width strips without too much trouble
