actually only FoH scumbags do this.
It's a pretty clear rule you don't eat customer food OR leftovers. Yall are pathetic

The problem with that story is that it's easy to just crush an oyster against the roof of your tongue and swallow without chewing. A lot of people just swallow them whole, complaining that the texture is unpleasant otherwise.

TT here. We've been trying to find record of this. GOM lives to 198 years of age because of his gut biome. They first thought it was something else, but a correlation was eventually found through the restaurant, and then finally through the eating of the food he had gummed. This is a great discovery.

Says who? The only rule about staff eating food in a restaurant is that you don't order during the rush and you don't eat in front of guests.
Stealing window fries - scrounging off finished plates - eating people's boxed leftovers that have been left behind - all fair game as long as no guests see, and that goes for FOH and BOH both. If there's a good score the servers will bring it back to the window for everyone.
No owner would crack down on this because if staff didn't steal bites of food here and there, they'd have to start taking meal breaks.

Boh here.
I have never ever done that. Not as a dish washer, not as a busser, not as a cook.
That's disgusting.

Then you're an outlier. I'm a decade in the industry. Dishwashers are notoriously the least picky when it comes to scrounging food.

20%?!

Are you fucking kidding me? It used to be 15%.
If I spend $100 on dinner, you better have 5-Star service if you want $20 for moving plates around. In fact, you better be personally standing at my table, ready to answer any question.

As a waitress the cook would make me extra fries so I could come steal them. Never did peoples plates though. I used to see the dish washer munch on leftover food though

If you want more money don’t haggle people for tips. I have a lady in my town who works at the bar. After she serves people she goes up wit them and puts her hand out like the grub she is.
