Do YOU work in a kitchen anon? Are your coworkers lazy pieces of garbage? Share those stories friendo.
Pic related. I'm the only one who works nights and this is how the day cook leaves the sink. Shes the general manager of the place so I can't do shit about it. This happens 5 nights a week, every week.

this

reminds me of the piece of shit i worked with at little caesars. He didn't do half the work that the others did up front, but would complain if there were dishes waiting for him when he arrived for shift. Dishes are so easy. I used to finish big piles of them in no time.

You'll never do line, saute, or even prep. It's not hard but you don't have what it takes.

Everything in the OP pic is prep shit that isn't needed during the dinner rush, and that's like 5 minutes worth of work. What the fuck are you even talking about? I go in for the dinner rush and every single fucking spatula, pair of tongs, and fucking saute pan is usually piled up in dish and the dishwasher usually comes in an hour after me so I'm doing dishes while making sure my station is stocked and also getting tickets.

I used to work at my cousin's sports bar (did every position in the entire place but waiter) as a busser, dishwasher, and prep cook. They weren't lazy, they'd help out when they can nearing the main event of a big fight or last 4-5mins of a game when people stopped ordering and waitstaff would try to bring in all the dishes before all of them had to rush to get their bills to the tables.

The only thing I hated of one of the cooks would be when he would just throw a shitload of cheddar cheese onto a burger in a pan for order then leave the pan under the grill so leftover cheese and grease would cool and harden. But everyone was pretty cool, people get mad sometimes but that's everywhere.

>> No.11870385

I've worked in a few kitchens. The one thing I learned is that if the "head" waitress and the owner are 'friends", get out of there. I think that's nearly everywhere, though. Seen many real solid workers fired because the head waitress didn't like them.

>Do YOU work in a kitchen anon?
Yes.

>Are your coworkers lazy pieces of garbage?
Absolutely not. Nobody lazy would make it past their stage, and if they somehow snuck by and got hired, they'd be gone within a few shifts. Our standards are way too high and our services way too busy for anyone who's not working their ass off 100% of the time to hack it.

>3 feet across giant steel bowl for mixing rice with the sushi vinegar is placed on a giant stand

The people there are the worst. Might be leaving soon though.

>hotshot fry cook drops a spatula before service
>picks it up and uses it instead of handing it to me
>see this often with most of the cooks
>accept that every time I eat there I will simply be training my immune system to survive the boubonic plague

I've got a wonderful couple more things to say about some restaurants I worked at.
>texmex place that is most likely a partial money laundering situation
>recently had a brand new place built for it
>grand opening brings in stupid amounts of customers despite mediocre to poor reviews
>fat fuck is a veteran dishwasher of that place
>doesnt scrub anything
>only wets the dishes a bit before shoving them into the washer
>loads everything too close together
>all dishes come out of the washer with a fine layer of bean dip over everything
>nobody seems to care and the cooks just ladle everything onto the plate to cover up all the old food
>thinks I'm an asshole for wanting to eat off of clean dishes

Another guy wouldn't even wet the dishes. Wouldn't scrape off the full helpings of beans or rice and would just put the half full dishes into the dishwasher.
>hey bro there's beans all over these dishes
>no bro it's ok they're clean
Same dude once dropped a pan on the floor and just put it back into a stack of pans.
I keep seeing stuff like this. Every kind of dish, takeout container, everything has been in contact with the floor and then with something that people will be eating.

Beware.

Currently a dishwasher.
Grab some steel wool, detergent and your hose.
Do the dishes.
That should take you ten minutes, TOPS.
They won't have generated that many dirty dishes in that timeframe.

Crazy how that works.
It's almost like it's your job to wash dishes.
