Do you like to take advantage of fast food restaurants? Pick absolutely related. This normally would’ve cost over $10 but i got it for like $4

I'm not sure what you think you're "taking advantage of," these companies are far more advanced at offering you something you think you're killing them on, even if it's a loss leader.

Looking at the menu prices for Whataburger, you're saving about $2.00 doing this. The medium fry and 32 oz. drink are $1.84 a piece. The burger meal is on average about six bucks.

You're saving some money, but at the end of the day, they're assuming, and are probably right, that most of their customers that are coupon clipping are going to swing by and pick something up for their kid, friend, coworker, etc.

You took a simple coupon and used it. That's not "taking advantage."

Now, when I was in college, some shitty coder fucked up and every time I ordered the $15 "Choice of three medium pizzas and choice of three types of wings" deal at Domino's, so I got 3 pizzas and three orders of wings every single time I ordered online. I fed the entire dorm floor for like two weeks and collected cash from people for food I bought using my parents' donations to my campus food card. That's taking advantage.

I don't live by a Whataburger, I used the internet. Using a coupon with a literal deal the company is offering is not taking advantage. If they let him use a free drink and fries coupon along with this one, and he walked away with free food, it'd be one thing.

No, you didn't. You provided them with revenue that they wouldn't have had if your coupon didn't exist, because you wouldn't have gone. Instead, they got four bucks on what's probably a food cost of $1.00. Fries and soda cost nothing. But you wouldn't have even thought of them if you didn't think you could get your "special deal."

It's called incrementality.

I literally have worked in the food service industry on the purchasing and marketing side. No, your cost of french fries and soda syrup if you're a national brand are close to the bottom you'll spend for anything, and are mainly profit.

If you think different, you work in your own tiny business and are an idiot. Companies don't create coupons that lose them money unless they can convert to more sales to make it up.

But that isn't the same situation at all. A more appropriate scenario would be if you took advantage of a buy one get one free. Or I guess the sale was 100% off?

"Crap, we need to sell this product that hasn't been moving, how do we get rid of it?"
>Let's offer a BOGO that still makes us 120% on the margin of those shirts

I bet you've never even heard of a faux-discount, where the product is marked up 20% so the people with 20% discounts think they're getting a great deal, but are actually paying full price. Along with a few saps who are paying 20% extra because they didn't see the coupon.

The deal in your pic was free burger with purchase of fries and drink. You didnt scam them or take advantage of them if you used a coupon from them. The cost of the drink and fries offset the cost of the burger. They most likely made a profit albeit smaller than usual if you had paid full price.

You would have scammed them if that coupon was fake and you had a dumb cashier and you got your whole meal for free.

Tl;dr you didnt take advantage because it was their coupon and their promo and you still spent money there.

boomer here
about 20 years ago burger king wanted to advertise their new fries so they held a "free fry day" promotion, naturally on a friday. no purchase necessary 1 per customer, everyone got a free small portion of their new fry recipe. so my picked me up after school and we went there and he had a buy one burger get one free coupon. so we get two orders of fries and burger for the price of one burger, we also brought paper cups from home and filled them up with soda at the fountain. good times.

You don't work in any business then. Customers don't notice when you slowly jack this shit up and then drop it back down with an offer.

"Limited time only! Get this fantastic deal before it's gone, and get a FREE soda!" Meanwhile, I've just sold you the same shit I was just selling you.

I had to wait a lot longer than I wanted at mcdonalds a few months back. I noticed what looked like a page of coupons within my reach so when the cashier was looking back to the kitchen, I pocketed it
when I was eating in my car I checked it out and it was 4 coupons for employees to give to their family members to try the new hot smothered tendies or buttermilk.
I also make multiple bullshit emails and sign up for Eclubs at restaurants to get free food.
I even change dates on some with microsoft paint
