Your house is visited by aliens, who ask you to give them one dish that represents all of humanity, with regards to culinary skill, tastes, advancement as a species, and morality (keep this in mind when choosing something with meat). If they do not approve of what you bring them, earth is instantly destroyed, along with you and everyone you love. What do you pick?

Hard mode: pick something you yourself can prepare in under 1 hour with ingredients you have right now in your kitchen (only need to make 1 serving).

I have some spinach in my fridge. I think spinach alone would suffice if they didn't know anything about the planet

Dill pickles, ice cold vodka. Maybe some pickled herring on ryebread if they're not vegans.
If the alien doesn't like that I'll grab him by the wrist so he at least has to die with me. As is befitting of plebs.

Let's face it interstellar food is probably a lot better than just earth food. So I'm just gonna ask for a 60 day dry aged organic beef ribeye tomahawk style and make that my last meal.

this would be a pretty good one. advancing to farm wheat and dairy puts you above animals that can only hunt. dairy also means that it's usually better for you to take good long-term care of your animals so they can continue providing dairy and you don't necessarily have to kill them to eat something from them too.

Why would organisms that emerged on an entirely separate planet have the responses to Earth plant and animal matter consumption that we acquired through billions of years of gradual coevolution? Even other organisms on our own planet very closely related to us have wildly extreme taste response differences like cats possessing zero capacity to detect what we perceive as sweetness. An alien probably wouldn't be able to process, derive nutrition from, or perceive flavor for most anything we're personally capable of using as food, outside of maybe a couple really basic commonalities like water and salt, and even then that's assuming alien life would require water and salt to emerge just because those basics seem essential based on the one example of a life-bearing planet we're familiar with.

My kitchen is woefully stocked becaise I just got back from vacation but I'll accept hard mode. I'll make a frittata.
>organic free range eggs
>organic whole milk
>organic butter
>potatoes
>onion
>real parmesan cheese
>oeganic broccoli-rabe
>salt and pepper
I could do like a wild shrimp/ shallot ceviche on the side. That's pretty much everything I have in the kitchen.
Thanks cause now I know what I can make tomorrow.

You think sugar, fat, protein and carbohydrate wouldn't be a commonality? I bet it would. Look up convergant evolution. Aliens are probably not that different from us.
