That's extra work for no reason instead of just having them switch to different seeds. It is a miracle food when you consider it would prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths and cases of blindness.

Obviously having a varied diet would be better than just adding vitamin A to the rice, but that'll take a lot longer to implement and the golden rice could still be used to save lives until that's possible.
