They even have 4 drink sizes. Trenti is 31oz

They charge like $7 for a cup of ice with a little sugar and milk and pretend it's a milk based beverage while raking in insane amounts of profit, which is so goddamn high, that their shareholders demand more and more sales growth every year even though that's impossible without jacking up prices $0.70 annually until they go bankrupt.

My drink was only 5$ and that is because I'm in an airport. There are so many other things to order on their menu.

They have made it so hard to talk about coffee with my family because they think "I love my morning coffee!" but in reality, they are drinking a cup of ice with milk and sugar in it.
They think I'm a crazy person for drinking black coffee.

It's quite silly to go to Starbucks for their actual coffee.

I don't go there at all, but when my family talks about how much they love coffee, it usually takes me a few sentences to realize they're talking about caffeinated ice cream in a cup instead of actual coffee.
I'm not trying to be snobbish either, it just creates a disconnect. The stuff they serve at Starbucks is REAL good.

Probably just contrarians since Starbucks got so popular and started showing up everywhere. Although I wouldn't ever get food at a Starbucks again, really low quality sandwiches. Even just something as simple as a breakfast sandwich where it's almost impossible to fuck up was terrible at Starbucks. They definitely don't make that stuff fresh. There's just a pile of awful pre-made sandwiches sitting there like at a convenience store, only somehow even worse.

Maybe back in 1999 when they started showing up everywhere (yes, they've been around a lot longer than that, but for a lot of people they didn't become a craze until around the time of that second Austin Powers movie) and people first thought of them as some sort of novelty higher end version of your local coffee shop and/or Dunkin' Donuts (FYI I love Dunkin' Donuts, not saying this to disparage them, just trying to explain what I remember the mentality at the time was like for most people).
But nowadays I don't think anyone mistakes Starbucks for a luxury coffee place. At MOST some people might liken them to a slightly higher tier version of a coffee place in a way analogous to the way some people think of Chipotle compared to Taco Bell.

I don't hate it, but in the main train station there are two coffee shops opened by 8am. Starbucks has a line out the door while the local shop with better coffee, better fresh food, and beer if you want it is practically empty.
I get why familiar stuff is popular, though.
