In New Zealand they have these greenshell mussels. They are so huge. I was traveling around the country and was driving through a town that's the world capital of them apparently, never seen mussels that big anywhere else in my life. So good too.

Australia also has great seafood. But there the popular choice is oysters. When I lived in Melbourne I used to go to a market every weekend to get some fresh shucked mussels, each one only $1.25-1.50. They were amazing.

Here in Canada I live on the west coast and we have the best salmon in the world. Candied salmon might be one of the best things you can stick in your mouth.

I think this is the truth. Spain has the most votes itt. I'd say you can get better stuff in Japan possibly (like the best tuna in the world) but Spain would be cheaper especially since Spain's best seafood is in Galicia which is dirt poor.
So, unlimited budget: Japan
Pigout without going broke: Spain

Spain beats Italy and Greece because they have both the Med and the Atlantic, and it's obvious the better stuff is from the Atlantic.

I think the criteria for the country with the best seafood would be
>variety of seafoods
>abundance of seafoods
>seafood culture
>restaurants able to properly prepare seafood

Cold climates are probably better all around. I've had some amazing seafood in tropical places don't get me wrong but cold waters are just better.

Pacific Northwest all you really have is salmon and mussels. Atlantic Northeast doesn't have the variety Spain has and a lot of the fish populations have collapsed. Scotland doesn't have very many good restaurants (changing quickly). New Zealand exports their best seafood to Japan, relatively hard to find a good local seafood restaurant that isn't just fish and chips.
I see people saying Tasmania and Singapore. I've never been so can't comment but I have been to Melbourne and don't remember it being a seafood destination.

I'm not an expert these are just my thoughts and I've been to many of these places.
