that's only a problem if you buy shit tier store bought ice creams with stabilizers that allow that to happen. majority of local businesses are just as shit in my experience with only a few exceptions and I live in a decent size city that loves ice cream. Actually good ice cream is hard to find. Peak ice cream for me is either made by me with no compromises in ingredients, from a not cheap mom and pop place, or Andy's frozen custard. Only grocery store brands I'll eat are Jeni's or haagen dazs. You can immediately tell if these have been in the freezer too long which is rare but they are just fine otherwise.
