yeah, sesame chicken, general tsos, sweet and sour are usually the sweet dishes. beef and broccoli, roast pork, salt and pepper chicken/pork, mongolian chicken/beef will usually be less sweet. i can't even eat the sweet ones anymore because i just feel nauseous before i'm even full.

he's asking what dishes aren't sweet, most of them on the menu won't say anything about sweetness except for sweet and sour. the sweet dishes usually say what kind of flavoring it has but not the sweetness.

Poke. It's like chirashi but not as good because you don't get that hit of raw fish flavor, it's just a mushy texture and the flavor is overpowered by the sesame oil, seaweed and other crap they put on it. I don't hate it, it's just not the sort of thing that deserves to be popular or trendy.

>>11774931
Yeah, in the past they would have secret menus in Chinese, but nowadays it's usually about what you order. When I got to a generic Chinese place I'll usually get some of the following

Sauteed snow pea leaves/tips
Some kind of tofu or meat clay pot
Crispy skin chicken
Steamed or fried whole fish (note this is expensive)
"Shui Zhu Yu" which goes by various names in English, if it has "fish slice" or something similar in the name it's probably this.
"Ti Pang" or "Hong Shao Rou" and variants. This refers to pork that has been steamed/braised for a long time, so it ends up with a texture similar to pulled pork. If it has "braised" "red cooked" "twice cooked" in the name it's probably this. The best is "Ti Pang" which is pork shoulder/hock.

These are items that are on the menu but don't stand out if you don't look for them.

Agreed. Poke is so overrated. It needs some sort of spice to kill the bad bacteria and prevent you from getting sick.

Imagine having such weak taste buds that slightest hint of any actual flavour sends you running in fear. Spice is a massive element of food. Spice, Acid, Heat, Fat are all equally important and french cuisine never has spice, like dude why are you so scared to put a little cumin or ginger in something

Latin american here who grew up with this food. Everything on this chart is so fucking wrong that I couldn't help laughing. Most quesadillas are made with ONLY cheese. Most tacos are made with mostly meat and some vegetables. Enchiladas are made with mostly meat and some vegetables and of course some sort of salsa. Most tostadas are made with some sort of pastie food, like blended beans, and some meat/cheese.

You have to believe that fucking del taco is representative of Mexican food to believe this.

You're right about burritos and chimichangas though.
