I wouldn't be able to survive on German cuisine. There's only so much roasted meat and starch one can take. Spent a month in Germany and after 3 weeks I would commit murder for a green salad.

It's true. When I came back to America from a family visit I was very thankful for the experience, but glad to be home.

I had some killer schnitzel with a garlic mushroom butter/cream gravy that made my mouth have an orgasm, but I can't imagine eating that shit every damn day.

I need variety in my life. One of the best parts of America is to decide what part of the world you feel like eating and having options to do just that. There weren't any mexican or chinese places in the parts of Germany that I stayed at. Just boiled tubes of meat and baked bread for as far as the eye could see.

I even stayed with a German family and they ate like this every single day so it wasn't just bias based on the restaurants I was going to. If they weren't eating meat and bread they were eating heavy cream-based desserts and cakes. Once in the 2 weeks that I spent with them they had melon in the house and even though I usually dislike melon that shit was the most delicious thing in the world for me in that moment.

Yeah, that sounds about right. My mom took me to a german farmer's market, but the veggies were rather expensive. I wonder if I lived there if I would assimilate or if I'd try to have more balanced meals like how I'm used to.

Sure, regional and seasonal veggies from farmer markets where local farmers sell their goods are more expensive than the veggies and fruit they sell at supermarkets or discount supermarkets. Yet with all the farmer markets and supermarkets it is no problem to get vegetables, fruit, salad,...in Germany.
We do have lots of veggie based dishes and at home we almost always have some lettuce, at least as a side dish.

It's all just a pro-immigration meme. The food that rural Americans grow in their backyards is tastier and more nutritious than anything a 4-star restaurant in a place like NYC provides. I've been all over the US and I've eaten every food you can think of. Professional and amateur food critics fawn over shit made by third-worlders but they never mention the aftermath or where their ingredients come from. We'd all be healthier if we exercised and ate Amish food every day rather that whatever "ethnic" cuisine is the meme of the month.

It is something very common, at least in our region, to have lettuce as a side dish. No pride here. But with all the people who experienced a lack of veggies/salad when visiting Germany I wanted to point out that we actually have this stuff. And besides all Spätzle, dumplings, sausages meat and gravy a broad variety of veggie-based dishes.
