Sorry. Of all the things you COULD put on a pizza, pepperoni's pretty low on the list. That's so much pizza area taken up by cheap greasy meat that could be succulent peppers, olives, mushrooms, anchovies, etc etc.

Some autist who had a pepperoni allergy or something and was deeply traumatized by its its existence as the pizza topping everyone else on the planet is fine with decided at some point to start spamming threads implying pepperoni pizza is a children's food to try to shame people into ordering it less often.
It really doesn't go any deeper than that. In real life pepperoni is the most popular topping choice by far for any age demographic, both married and single adults included. Anyone with an office job where a co-worker has ordered a pizza at some point will tell you at least part of what they ordered was topped with pepperoni. It's simple, familiar, common, well tolerated, and mildly flavored, and it's even more popular than plain cheese pizza since people tend to feel like they're missing out on something when they get a pizza without a real topping of some sort on it.

Pepperoni is alright but it's too greasy and I'm not some commiefornian so I'm not going to pat/drain it. I prefer less greasy meats, which is a huge selection including sausage or bacon.
