I love the texture of the little florets, as a ketoer it reminds me of rice.

I also love green peas. Buy a huge bag from the supermarket, and stick it in the freezer, then whenever you want a tasty snack stick some in the microwave with butter and mustard and hot sauce or whatever seasonings you happen to like.

its always been a favourite of mine. Then I discovered broccolini. Ohhhh boy that was a life changer.

I agree. It’s top tier veg, same as cauliflower.

>> No.11731309

Broccoli is high in oxalates, which cause kidney stones, and it's also high in arsenic, a poisonous chemical element present in soil. Broccoli has a natural affinity for arsenic, so it absorbs it out of the ground more than other plants. Peas and spinach are also high in oxalates and arsenic.

Keep them away from enclosed spaces where other veggies/fruits are giving off ethylene, so that includes enclosing them in their own space. Keep them in a cool dry place, in the open as much as they possibly can.

I would argue the arsenic concentration is so small that you'd have to eat large amounts of broccoli each day, for a long term period, before you were affected in a noticeable way. The kidney stones? I'm sure there is another reason that trumps high oxalates.

If you've never grilled your broccoli you gotta grill your broccoli bros.

It's fucking phenomenal. I toss it with some olive oil, salt, pepper, and balsamic and throw it on the grill.

All I eat for lunch now is seasoned lentils with whatever cabbage/leafs are cheapest at the asian market. Usually I go for spinach, watercress, collard greens, and some kind of bok choy or nappa cabbage and boil it into a sloop de turd

No personal recommendations. I just understand that a mixture of beans/lentils will provide you with a more complete amino acid and general nutrient base. Beyond that, I really have no clue. I usually try to mix different colors as that seems to indicate they at least have some different nutrients at play. You could always go hardcore and find the latest nutrient breakdown of various legumes and use that as a sort of guide, learning what various nutrients and amino acids are crucial and which are only present in certain types.
