Is eating healthy something poorfags can do in the us?

Yes. Just buy meat, fruit and veg, nothing premade. I eat home cooked meals and snack on fruit for about $40 a week. Mcdonadls would cost more than that.

This. I've honestly never understood the logic behind "It's cheaper to make your own food."

Because they all say "You're really only paying $1.24 per meal!" When in reality you're paying over $200 in order to reach that price point.

Case in point: I can go to McDonalds right now and for 6 dollars get 2 McDoubles, 2 McChickens and a large iced tea and be full for the majority of the day.

Or I can go to the store, buy $40 worth of stew meat, pay $50 for assorted "fresh" vegatables, another $20 on stock liquid, and $30 for spices and "bay leaves" to make a stew that "only" costs me $1.16 a serving.

I think people who say that home cooking is cheaper have been gone shopping for themselves.

You're probably a little dumb.

>Or I can go to the store, buy $40 worth of stew meat...
christ, anon, how many people are you planning on feeding? $40 worth of stew meat would be something like 40 portions..

>pay $50 for assorted "fresh" vegatables,
You could feed yourself for a month on that.

>another $20 on stock liquid
Buying stock is for idiots who can't cook. you make stock.

> and $30 for spices
...which will keep you set for half a year, if not more.....and you have a ton of shit left over which you can use to cook with the next day, and the day after that, and the day after that.

You think cooking for yourself is expensive because you lack the skill or the forethought to use up all the things you bought before they go bad.

It's cheaper after a certain point. Once you have the proper staples in your home, which like you said takes one to two hundred dollars, you can start saving some money sort of. Buying meat on sale and freezing it is the only way to save money on that anymore though. Same with in season vegetables or just frozen veggies on sale

Depends on your definition of healthy
You can get lots of staple grains dirt cheap in bulk. How many carbs you can eat and not get fat or have bad blood sugar largely depends on how active you are. If you're exercising frequently by all means load up on the rice and barley. Meat is a trickier thing if you go cheap you mise well be eating soi. You almost have to go to a butcher to get cost effective clean meat. You can even cut ground meats with tvp to make it go further but thats soi so not ideal for senditary people. Nut butters are cheapish. Onions, carrots, cellery, potatoes, cabbage are pretty cheap year round. Broccoli is close and probably worth the extra money in regards to diet. Eggs are kinda shit but you can get away with eating a few so long as the rest of your diet is in check and youre healthy. Pickling is an amazing money saver and pretty healthy if you pickle things worth pickling. And by that I mean more lacto fermentation than dumping everything in vinegar and salt. Being a poorfag and eating healthy is more about oppertunism than having a strict meal plan. You have to know your markets and whats cheapest where minimizing waste also goes a long way.

Best advice for a poorfag eating at Wally World would be to buy a rotisserie chicken, a couple carrots, an onion, some celery, a pound of dry pasta, and some rice. You could buy all of that for under $10, and it would give you several meals:
-4 main servings of chicken (2 legs, 2 breasts) with rice
-Now take the carcass and the veggies you bought, plus the pasta and make yourself a bigass pot of chicken noodle soup.
That comes out to about 50 cents a serving. (When I did this to save booze money back in college it cost about 40 cents a meal)

That's precisely why I learned to cook. Fast food burgers aren't delicious. They're the very definition of mystery meat, and they do taste like shit compared to what you can make at home.

Mystery meat? Nah, you buy beef short rib. Buy the wholesale packs and you get a nice discount. Grind that meat yourself right before you cook the patty. Cheaper than fast food, much tastier than fast food because it's fresh and cooked to order. Not to mention you can season it to your personal tastes rather than lowest-common-denominiator shit, and you have full control over the doneness you want. Mickey Dee's is sure as hell not going to serve you a perfect medium-rare, and their meat is going to be ass by comparison too. Wrong. It’s already been shown above that cooking your own food in large batches is both healthier and cheaper. You’re either:
1. Lazy
2. Poor
3. Intimidated by cooking
4. Autistic
5. Fat and dependent
6. A combination of the above
Nobody voluntarily eats fast food everyday unless there is something else going on. Based on your previous replies, it’s safe to assume (5). You don’t buy spices and don’t cook, so probably (3). You claim not to be poor so I guess we can omit (2) (though I’m unconvinced). Definitely (4). (1) is probably the biggest factor at play here, but I suppose now you’ll tell me that you’re actually really active and just got done through-hiking the AT. All in all, you have a lot of issues. You should start cooking and get your life in order.

It usually takes me like 2 hours to completely prepare a dinner, but I'm cooking for multiple people and I always tend to try and make composed dishes rather than something simple like a salad or sauteed vegetables.
I also think I might just be abnormally slow in general, It always takes me at least twice as long as the recipe says it'll take. I've got the time for it, though.

That doesn't have to be every night tho, even with a family. Putting a whole chicken and some potatoes in the over to bake takes minutes. Then you have an hour before you have to make some more sides.

Actually my dad writes contracts for SOCOM to order explosive ordinance. He probably could beat up your dad but he wouldn't because he's a good person with non-degen hobbies like browsing 4chan. Anon you can be as cool as I am if you just try.

Cool story bro. Lemme guess, he goes out drinking every week with SEAL Team Six, once beat a Green Beret in a knife throwing competition and out drinks US Marines then draws dongs on their faces when they pass out?

No he was only ever a Sargent major, commanded troops during desert storm, spent most of his time behind a desk ordering things and ordering people around. Just because he a retired marine doesn't mean he wants to do any of that childish stuff. He brews beers with his buddies and practices woodworking. Idk why you just can't be cash money like me.

there, 20 bucks and you have like 3 weeks of food. if your budget is a little higher, get a big ass bag of frozen chicken thighs, or better yet, but whole chickens when they are on sale, break them down yourself, and use the bits and bones to make your own stock, to make your beans and rice even better. eating healthy is easy and cheap, you just cant be a lazy shit
