What was poutine's problem?

cheese curds aren't great

also often made with shitty, powdered gravy instead of gravy made with stock and pan drippings

fresh, seasoned fries + a good beef/chicken gravy is far more satisfying imo. it's heavy enough without adding really fatty cheese

I just make sausage gravy and serve it with the same sausage that contributed to the sausage gravy

I'd like some poutine. Hold the gravy and add mac sauce to it.

I don't really like the """gravy""" they use normally since they tend to do it with powdered vegetable stock, which always has the same unpleasant after-taste. Montreal Poutine though? With a creamy mushroom sauce? No problem. None whatsoever. The only fast food item I still buy on the regular.

If you rocked up to me with some poutine I'd slap that garbage out of your hands and kick the plate into the street. I'll take my fries cajun style with wurster sauce to taste. You think I'm some kind of faggot? Disco fries... Fuckin disco in your ass crack ya fuckin moose humping queers

Poutine is Canada's attempt to convince everyone they're totally a hardcore blue collar dirty elbows on the table frontier country where dumb hearty food is 'a thing'. The problem is Canada is 'Millenial Hipster: the Country', some dude who lifts and wears flannel and has a beard but has never gone camping without an RV and couldn't fix a good goddamn thing if his life depended on it.

Fuck mayo. Doesn't belong anywhere except the trash. Canadians got it right by not adding mayo.

It seems like USA is like the older brother that everyone hates and Canada is the cute younger sister that the rest of the world has fallen in love with.
It seems only fitting that the older brother should be disgruntled.

I dunno why or how but just about every place that isn't Ontario, Quebec and maybe Wisconsin seems unable to have the proper cheese curds and gravy for poutine.

Poutine is a Quebecois dish who were almost exclusively blue collars until the 90s.

Not the point, like it or not, almost every restaurant in Quebec has mayo packets or provide a squirtbottle for mayo for application to poutine. It's actually fantastic when you're completely wasted at 4am.

im from ottawa. I havent had a descent poutine in over 10 years. cheese curds are always too thick and cold. the standard 8$ price tag keeps me away and feeling sick after I eat..... its for kids and drunks
