What's your ideal or usual way to prepare a burger?

diner style. Two balls of 70/30 chuck on flattop or thick bottomed pan, smash down with large spatula, season with salt and pepper. Flip once blood and fat starts bubbling through meat, put thin layer of cheese on one burger until melted, stack together on bun. Thinly sliced red onion, pickles, lots of lettuce and special sauce.

smash extra fatty hamburger, and a little touch of worcestershire sauce into a patty that's just thick enough to have a center, but no thicker
throw it on a ridiculously hot skillet
flip once to medium
don't carry any grease from the skillet when removing
let it sit a few minutes while preparing topping
white bread
one spread of home-made mayo (made with some mustard tang to it)
light spread of home-made ketchup
a few slices of pickled banana peppers centered
When I think hamburger, I think meat. I want it to be all about the meat. It's simple. All the rest of it is a way to add subtle additions of salt, oil, vinegar, acid, sweetness and a couple noted flavorings to give it a jump.

I enjoy lots of burgers, there are so many ways you can't go wrong. Some of them are basically salads or whatever, and that's fine. I love eating hamburgers. But this is what I do for my ideal.
