Should I stop being a vegan?
I got talked into it because of what happens in the dairy industry, but after a year I am only just learning about bioavailability, and I broke my bone at the gym and I'm worried it was due to not being able to get the vitamin A and D and I'm hungry all the time.

I'm stressing about it too much because I don't want to hurt animals but I don't want to end up like the guys in those videos. https://youtu.be/PJnPZgLHHWQ
I just don't know what's cherrypicked anymore and what's true

Just buy free range products if you're concerned about the horrors of industrial agriculture.

You don't have to go no-meat, you just have to avoid factory farming.

I would just be eating eggs, at least until I'm 20 or a bit older and then maybe I can give veganism another try. The problem is even with free range they still kill all the male chickens.

so get your eggs from a local person who doesn't kill the male chicks.

And even if they kill male chicks, so what? You think a farmer who grows vegetables or grain doesn't kill moles, gophers, pest birds, rats, mice, etc, that eat his crops and raid the storehouse? Avoiding eggs doesn't avoid killing.

Ever seen pic related? This is how farmers keep gophers and other burrowing rodents out of their fields. It pumps engine exhaust into their tunnels, gassing them. There is no escaping animal deaths when you are buying groceries. None.

Join the carnivore master race. Most vegans end up here when their bodies start breaking down. Check out vegetable police on youtube. More and more prominent ex-vegans are jumping ship and hopping on the meat train.

The oldest WWII vet just died at 112. He attributed his long life to eating lots of dairy and drinking brown liquor ever day.

seriously go to a farmer's market. There are small farmer's with a range of plants and animals and they are all so much happier and healthier than large supermarket alternatives. Some alternative sustainable farming models include Permaculture and Biodynamic farming methods. Some chicken farms like where I get my own eggs from are "no kill" free range farms.

But honestly, death is a part of life and the quicker you can embrace and honour it, the easier life will be to enjoy and appreciate. Vegans share a huge fear of death and a large communist based oppressed/oppressor outlook on (food) production. It is much more reasonable to view food (animals and plants) as symbiotic with the farmer, and then to find farms that engage in these practices.

Remember: all chickens will die. Some breeds literally have heart attacks weeks after the period in which you should have slaughtered them humanely. Other chickens are killed by nature, hawks, owls, foxes, skunks etc. Farmers are actually very caring for their flocks and it does no good to vilify them.

Veganism is, at its most optimistic, incredibly misguided and if we're being more realistic it is incredibly harmful. Not just to the nutrient deficiencies created by long term lack of animal proteins, but to the environment as large scale vegetation/grain farming harms countless ecosystems and its byproducts goes directly to supporting feed lots for the factory farms that vegans claim to hate the most.

Eat some eggs, find some grass fed organic meat. Try not to fear death.

Farmer's markets are usually a sham. I know people who buy cheap vegetables and resell them for profit at farmer's markets.
Unless you live near farms and an actual farm has set up a stall at the farmer's market, you're better off in a grocery store.

I grow vegetables and fruits and sell them at farmer's markets. There are many more legitimate farmer's than fakers there. Talk to farmers at the market and don't be a sucker.

I'm lucky to live near a lot of farms and they have stalls of their own open on their property, that's usually the best price/quality because they don't have to ship.
But most farmer's markets near here are held downtown near the rich yuppies so it's expensive for quality that's actually subpar to grocery stores.
Your local grocery store probably has a good relationship with your local farm so you're really just paying more for the same vegetables that'll be sent to your grocery store.
