It’s soup, you literally can throw any thing together and it comes out OK, (worked as a cook at a shelter, opened hundreds mixed cans of soup and dumped it all together, the bums loved it).

Tomato soup
>boil two pounds of tomatoes
>add salt

1 cup of peas
3 cups of water
1 tsp salt
1 chopped onion
1 tbsp flour

Boil vegetables until they're soft enough to mash into a uniform liquid. Add salt for flavor, and flour for thickening. Throw in a teaspoon of pepper if you're into exotic shit like that.
Serve with rye bread.

I always roast a whole chicken dinner the night before I make soup, saving back some meat and the carcass for the soup. Remove left over meat and set aside refrigerated. Cut up the carcass and roast the bones until they're brown. Deglaze the roasting pan with water and add to your stock pot with the roasted bones. Cut up mirepoix and add to stock pot with a bouquet garnis consisting of bay leaf, thyme, parsley and marjoram. Cover with water, cook on low for 3 to 4 hours. Throw away bouquet garnis, add set aside chicken. Boiling noodles in soup creates a gross raw flour taste. Boil in their own water, rinse well after cooking, add to soup. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve.
