What is wrong? They are living on an island. While culinary bloomed in France, Germany or Austrian monarchy because there was so much neighbours and small trading going on... Bongs never could profit from small tradesmen like that, they had to transport everything on huge ships. Their culinary culture got isolated because of that. Another thing, nobility for a very long time - for example, Richard the Lionheart - was speaking only French. English was language of poor masses. And I bet nobility also ate like French, while English culinary culture was formed by low class as well. Eating shit at this point was British identity - to be different from their enemies, French.

my mom would take leftover spaghetti with meat sauce, bake it as a casserole with cheddar chees on top, and i would spoon that on top of crusty toasted french bread. i know, carb on carb. but it was really really good and im a foodie. so fuck off i like it, and you would too if you tried it. however, i bet the scots etc use a sauce with too much sugar, like everyone does (and too watery, and not enough meat, and the bread is lousy). i add no sugar, and i dont use jar sauce with added sugar. flips pasta sauce is like half sugar. ow

British food is less well developed than say French cuisine, but Britain has its own variety of traditional cheeses, sausages, baked goods etc. that can compete with those from anywhere in the world.

I usually buy about 3 pounds of lean groud beef and make a pretty sick spaghetti tomatoe based sauce with it. Then homemade tagliatelle and I eat it on toasted homemade sourdough. VERY comfy dinner desu. keeps in the fridge for a week as well and its very cheap.
