Go to Gott's Roadside when it opens in a couple hours (burger fries beer)
Go to McCormick and Cucklettos in Ghirardelli Square (steak/seafood/bar/pastas)
Walk from there to El Faro on Folsom to experience SF better than literally any flyover tourist ever had
Go to Bubba Gumps to be a tourist
Go to Pier 39 to be a Tourist
Go to Ming Heung Dim Sum for authentic Canton food

Stay off Market, Mission, Broadway, anything west of Amoeba Records, and don't give anyone in the streets money.

What's your budget?
I recommend del popolo, venticello, China live, fat angel, a16, beretta (get the rissoto), Octavia, californios, state bird provision. That should be enough to keep you occupied

Of all the places that I have traveled, San fran has had the most overrated culinary scene.

The food is fine but they really hype it up and self congratulate their food more than any other place I have been to, and really have no distinction to their culinary identity that sets them apart.

Some will hate, but that's only because I speak the truth.

You are right. Food is fine enough, but too much "m-muh The City".
