And in-n-out shills, please go fuck yourselves with those stale burgers you got from your run of the mill hamburger stand. Fucking Wendy's with animal sauce

shake shack and five guys are both overpriced for what you get. At least shake shack has decent meat, but five guys is literally inexcusable.

Tommys is the best burger joint, every other place is for hoodrats with no cash or hipsters who shell out 20 dollars for 50 cents worth of beef.

Having eaten at Five Guys I can confirm beyond a reasonable doubt. Fatburger blows it out of the water. Now that the Fatburger by me has closed though, the only decent burger place nearby is In-N-Out, which is still better (and cheaper) than shitty fucking Five Guys. And another thing: In-N-Out is not "Wendy's with animal sauce." That's fucking retarded. Five Guys is Wendy's but even more overpriced, and with peanuts.

Must be thinking of some other burger chain founder...
I lived in D.C. during the height of the tech boom, ie late 90s and early 2000s in Arlington VA. Five Guys was indeed a family business in lieu of school, 4 brothers, and they worked from the ground up with just a basic menu. The very height of the tech boom when people were just starting to use yelp, and texting and tweeting were the norm, the tech kiddos and govt employees in IT and other monied positions in govt and law, and college kids, were waiting in lines around the block to try the next great this or that foodie experience. northern VA, DC and metro DC Maryland were hot places for good food and money/price be damned. You snapped a pic and threw it up on your myspace and the rest is history. They were slammed much in the way that Shake Shack was later slammed from
word.
of.
mouth.
and not poor skill in the kitchen. Snake oil is nonsense. These 4 brothers were slaving all day frying up those fries and serving them as a mound to share when other people were limiting portions and eating healthy in the healthiest city in the world. They figured out a formula because it was good. Pre-franchising, they weren't idiots who had no knowledge of the food world, they made a successful business one expansion at a time. Til the franchisees after that, they were just brothers doing their thing.
I find their burgers just okay, kind of a less flavored smashburger, and a tier below Shake Shack, esp with the mushroom element there. 5G fries are skin-on, dark and cooked from raw.

I haven't eaten at Five Guy in several years, but I decided to eat there for lunch after seeing all these threads on /ck/.
It's a good burger, I don't think anybody is denying that, but it's just too expensive for what it is: a burger and fries.

It was $32 for my girlfriend and me. Two burgers, two drinks, and we split a small order of fries.
Good burger, yes, but it costs too much.

no -- Five Guys was founded in 1986 by Janie and Jerry Murrell; Jerry and the couple's sons, Jim, Matt, Chad, and Ben, were the original "Five Guys."
