Be prepared to spend thousands or tens of thousands of dollars replacing every clear plastic container in your restaurant next year.

Subway is going to start running national TV ads during Christmas season claiming they removed endocrine disruptors from every part of their supply chain, including making sure the containers the food comes in does not contain Bisphenol A (BPA) while Chipotle stores everything in BPA-containing plastic containers. This ad campaign is deliberately designed to restart public health panic over BPA similar to the one over Nalgene water bottles several years ago.

How do you feel about this?

Only retard restaurants use plastic containers of that kind, unironically.

It's been over a year since the health inspector's been by. We'll probably have to buy new pans anyway by the time this becomes an issue.

Mad. This is why the government should visciously punish any business that tried to make money by any means other than just doing a good job at what they do, imo. Idk about the free market. That’s made up bullshit for people who want to freeload, trapping customers in a captive market and then doing everything except a good job in order to scrounge up more cash for shareholders.

Metal isn't always great for cold storage. Most restaurants use both. Also this >>11618604

Plastic breaks, discolours and deforms easily, metal doesn't. Why would a decent restaurant use plastic, when metal is vastly superior and cheaper in the long run?

I used to work at a tex-mex chain restaurant that used plastic for almost everything stored in the walk-in so that it could just be thrown into the microwave to reheat. It was pretty eye opening to see how much of the menu was shit microwaved in plastic bags/containers. But I'd still eat there because I'm not a bitch who's afraid of a little BPA.

>> No.11619419

>>11619364
The plastic type used is the same stuff used to make safety glasses and "bulletproof glass"--polycarbonate. It's tough as hell, which is the whole point. Stainless containers are used too, but they get dented and bent.

Metal is not "vastly superior". Stop talking about something you have no experience with.

Break a pyrex? Possible, but unlikely. I just dropped one of the bigger bowls, full of food, on the concrete the other day. Glass is the only way to go. Pyrex unless you're trying trying to save money, then its metal. Theyll only switch the plastic to a material that contains harmful chemicals that havent been properly studied yet
