Can we have a cocktails thread?
What cocktails have you been drinking lately?
Any personal cocktail recipes you can share?
What are your favorite liqueurs to keep on hand for a cheeky midnight mix?

I'll share my most recent favorite.
>Tanquery Rangpur 1.5oz
>St Germain .25 oz
>Simply Grapefruit juice 3oz
>prosecco 1.5oz
I call it the Gin and Juice Spritz. If you haven't had gin and grapefruit juice, now is the time to try.

I bought sweet vermouth and Campari to make a couple of different drinks, and they're all fucking nasty. I thought I didn't have a problem with bitter flavors, but Campari looks and tastes like cough syrup.

I can't stand Campari, queue everyone filing in to proclaim their superior tastebuds
I don't like Aperol either, both taste as bad as they look. Old taste stuff. You gotta wonder.
What cocktails were you trying out?

The most bearable one was a negroni, it's maybe one I would have every once in a while. I also tried making boulevardiers, manhattans, and americanos. The boulevardier was especially terrible, I don't think campari and whiskey mix well at all.

Campari in a manhattan? That doesn't sound right to me.
The old fashioned is "in" right now (I work at a gay upscale cocktail/wine bar) as well as aperol spritz and negroni. I don't care for any of that as I also don't really care for whisky/bourbon. I'm very much a gin drinker.

No campari in that one, just the sweet vermouth which I also wasn't a big fan of. Dry vermouth is a lot better, I really like martinis and stuff like that.

I like old fashioneds, but I hate how every trendy bar has some stupid unnecessary twist on it. I also think it's kind of a pointless drink unless you're trying to cover up a cheap whiskey. Any decent whiskey I would rather just drink neat.

Recently got into elderflower liqueur. Couple of cocktails I've liked:
>2 shots gin
>1 shot elderflower
>top a whiskey glass filled with ice with grapefruit juice
And gin blossoms
>mix 1 shot each gin and elderflower with a squirt of lemon juice
>strain into glass w ice and add a white champagne to taste
The latter is more of a pain to make especially since champagne doesn't keep long but good for a larger party
My own different creation that's very sweet:
>1 shot vodka
>1 shot mango bacardi
>strawberry lemonade
>lemon

Aperol spritz is a great drink, though the season has passed I think.

Lately I’ve been doing mostly darker liquors since it’s winter; it just feels right when snow’s on the ground. I particularly like an Old Fashioned with a little Sage simple syrup.

Made a whiskey sour the other night and it was pretty good, used honey syrup and I added a splash of chilled earl gray to mellow it out

Earl gray sounds like a great addition, damn. Hadn’t thought of that

>gin blossom
Honestly never heard it called that, most will just call it an elderflower 75 as it's just elderflower liqueur added to a French 75. However, it is one of my fave drinks. Forego lemon juice for blueberry lemonade and enjoy something super tasty and drinkable.

The drink I listed in OP is very similar to both of what you listed as well.

>>11611867
Any advice on whiskey that is interesting, but not super sweet? I want to get into it but I don't like sweet liquors.

WhistlePig is a good one, it’s a nice rye (a bit less sweet). I dont really like bourbons or sweeter liquors either (big gin guy) and I think a rye is probably what you’re looking for

What ratio are you using between the liquors? Most negroni and boulevardier recipes call for equal parts. But you could always scale back the Campari and add more of the other ingredients.

For example:

1/4 oz Campari
1-1/4 oz Bourbon
1/2 oz vermouth wine

Stir well with ice and strain into cocktail goblet.

Going to a cocktail tomorrow night. What can I get that doesn't make me look like a fag or a tryhard manlyman in front of all my coworkers without showing how /alck/ I really am?

Enjoy
>vodka
>scotch
>mojitos not made from a mix
Hate
>gin
>tequila
>shot+syrup+seltzer water wa la

If you enjoy mojitos then drink mojitos?
If it's a cocktail bar they're not using mix.

I made my first dark and stormy the other night. That's a fine ass drink. The foam on top, spiciness of the gingerbeer, sweetness of the rum. I kind of hate rum mostly, but I REALLY liked everything about it.

Also made one with tonic water since I was out of ginger beer and I really liked how clean that tasted. Still just as crisp, but more like a refreshing soda than the previous one.

Oldfag here. It's pretty much always "in", it's considered a standard for a reason.

Been making a lot of martinis and old fashioneds recently.
Martinis I have been playing with the gin/vermouth ration and Old Fashioneds I've been trying different sweeteners and bitters.

I've seen an earl grey bitters that piqued my interest, similar to what >>11611901 said but it was in an old fashioned.
