Kirchwin is a Silesian herbal liquor from my grandfathers hometown. The taste is very bitter but actually not that bad. The actually bad thing about it is its guarantee for nausea even if you only drink a single shot of it. I know many people who really felt like shit after trying it and most of them were hard drinkers.
Alongside Kirchwin Germany has many other terrible bitters like Underberg, Kümmerling, Boonekamp, Schierker Feuerstein and so on that i can't stand neither. All of them are much more worse than Jägermeister.

Local liquor store has had this grass flavored on clearance since June. $5L and 30% ABV, I've been buying and drinking 1-2 bottles a week, they still have "at least 30 cases" left in the back room.
Love the flavor, but everyone else that's tried it has had to sit down to avoid vomiting.
Big fan of it with raspberry tea, like eating a raspberry with the stem on.

Both Jack and Beam are priced about the same here around Nashville. And both are probably equally recognizable in this part of the country. The big thing about these two companies is that they can simply out-produce most other competitors and flood the market with enough of their stock to keep the price so low that it keeps most others out. I'm sure 4 Roses and Maker would love a piece of that bottom-rung pie but their operational capabilities simply cannot match Jack and Beam... This also has the added benefit of creating brand loyalty early on since most buyers of Jack and Beam are usually first time or novice liquor drinkers. To get them hooked to the brand and transform them into repeat customers of licensed merchandise is an even greater asset for those companies than having them buy a bottle now and again. You can see Buffalo Trace playing the same game--albeit on the other end--with their Van Winkle line. Everybody else is stuck in the middle picking up the scraps.

For me, it is Axe Head. A vile "beer" whose makers have abandoned the pretension that it is anything other than a drug. Drench a dog in stale piss and let it play outside on a hot summer day and you'll have an idea of what it smells like. The name also aptly describes the hangover.
