Is crown royal whiskey any good for it's price? According to google it's less than $35 Canadian. For any whiskey drinkers out there, would you recommend it for someone with a more meager income?

>> No.11459199

It's alright, but if I was going to buy a cheap rye Id buy Lot40 or Alberta Premiums Dark Horse for a much cheaper drinkable rye.

If you can afford it Glen Garioch Founders Reserve is a friendly well priced scotch at >60$

yeee crown is pretty alright for straight drinking, mixes well but you can hit the same niche for cheaper. don't stray down the path of flavoured or colored crowns, waste of money that stuff

If you just want to get drunk as a poorfag then dollar to booze ratio is best served by bottom shelf fortified wines

Dark Horse is a fantastic whisky that I rarely drink straight.
I mostly drink scotch straight, but I've had more Dark Horse than any other whisky just because I keep buying it for cocktails.

The very first time I had crown, I asked the person who gave it to me where the whisky was.
Drink something else. People don't recommend crown, they just ask about it because the marketing makes it prevalent enough to make them think other people are drinking it often it enough for it to be a quality product.

All vodka tastes the same. They all taste like nothing + alcohol. The only difference between brands & bottles is how many times it is filtered. That difference manifests in "smoothness" i.e. a smoother vodka will hurt less going down. Russian Standard is top tier but if you're min/maxing your price:quality ratio, New Amsterdam. Any vodka you buy can be incrementally improved by passing the bottle through a Britta filter. This will ruin the filter, so do this on a filter you are about to replace.

Never use to be that way until the onset of all the flavors. Blacks like things that are sweet, expensive, and/ or colorful. The marketing guys at CR realized how much money they were losing by marketing to only manly-men white guys and rednecks. They saw the negros drinking cognac and Ciroc (expensive), moscato wine and shit liqueurs like Hypnotiq and Viniq (sweet), and noticed how they admire colorful and shiny things. Case in point, some small CR sizes come to us without the colorful meme bags and the negros flip their shit, thinking we're stealing them. "It don't come wit no bag!?" But yeah, they suck down the apple and vanilla meme flavors like it's going outta style where I work.

On a parting note, this. Its "Canadian-ness" notwithstanding, it is still a blended whiskey. They are charging you fools top dollar for something that's been cut with neutral grain. Find a good pure rye, or bourbon, instead.

Well said anon. It's unfortunate for them that the CR boxes are unwieldy for stealing, otherwise they'd now be behind the counter at my store too. Funny, the negros also had a Patron phase once because of some rapper marketing it. At my store, there were occasions where one would usually cause a diversion while another unboxed the Patrons (they're less secure than CR, no tape) and stuffed them in oversized purses and whatnot. One African American gentleman used to just come in, grab one, and run out really fast.

But in all fairness, remember these people are only doing this because they are being cruelly oppressed.

All of the places in NY that I've been to, in some decent areas have Patron behind the counter. That's some oppression right there. We used to have a code for them at a sporting goods store in Manhattan, timber. Plus they were going around knocking out windows in places and grabbing shit, so we'd mismatch things in the windows just in case. We never got hit with that one.

There was this dumb nigger that thought he was slick and tried stuffing 3k jackets into a big vaccum cleaner, he stuffed them in behind a bunch of other jackets where there was a window behind him and the owner of the property across the street saw it and informed the owner of the place I worked for and the fucker got busted.
