what is a good small blender? I only need it to puree peppers for chili and maybe making a milk shake now and then.

Vitamix with a 32oz container. It's pretty handy in that size.

A good blender is going to have a bigger base because it has a more powerful motor. There isn't really any getting around that. You can buy different sized pitchers for most brands.

at $20 each, you could buy 10 of them instead of a vitamix or blendtec. if they each last 3 years, which is entirely possible with light duty, that's 30 years of blenders for the same price.

Do. Not. Buy. Magic/nutribullet.

These blenders harbor a dark secret that nobody ever talks about because people are just pleased as peach with the performance.

The blade section traps decaying food material under the gasket, and the gasket is hard or in some cases impossible to remove and reinstall.

Over time the blade section will begin to smell like a rotting carcass from all the trapped organic matter. Gasket gets stretched out or tears from you fuckign with it so much? Well, tough shit, because bullet *doesn't sell replacement gaskets*. You can buy a pack of new entire blade sections though, because why not waste as much manufacturing capacity as possible while simultaneously saying fuck you to the consumer!

If you only have the budget or room for a small blender, it doesn't make sense to inconvenience yourself just to have a blender

It's a blender
If you only want to blend peppers and make the occasional milkshake it doesn't make sense to spend upwards of $300 dollars on an appliance that you don't use all of the time

There's literally nothing wrong with buying a small blender

I completely forgot about that ring thing. I had a nutribullet before the vitamix and it was gross cleaning it out. It sucks because if I recall correctly, the company refuses to accept the fault in their product, leaving many online reviewers angry.

They absolutely do. I contacted them on facebook because my blade section ended up smelling like a dead cow and they said basically "removing the gasket is not supported"

So they more or less want you to have speckles of decaying organic matter from the last blend in everything you make. It's disgusting, and despite the products selling so well they are simply inherently flawed.

>> No.11371600

>>11371588
Yea it's too bad, because besides the gasket thing it's a solid product. But if they made an updated version that solves the issue they'd in a way be admitting that they were wrong to the customers and it would look bad on them.

You're going to love the vitamix. It's easier to blend stuff since you have a hole at the top of a blender instead of having to open the jar to scrape stuff then reattaching to blend. Making nut and coco butters where time consuming on the nutribullet.

I’m a chef on a private yacht. Waring pro blade 2HP. It’s about 100 bucks but it works practically as well as a vitamix. Fuck miniature blenders, you can do everything you need in a bigger one and then you have room if you ever need it for bigger portions of purees and sauces.

why do you have 5 vitamixes?

ok heres whats stopping me from buying one right now anyway

my girlfriend wants to make a smoothie, put it in a bottle next to an ice pack, go the gym, and then drink the smoothie at work after the gym

she says when she does this with the nutribullet it separates and gets really gross and she can't shake it back into the same consistency. I said with a vitamix it would probably help because everything will be smaller particle size so it'll be easier to shake it back up

Maybe she just needs a shaker bottle honestly?

Because I sold two of the 7 I started out with.

What's in her smoothies? If the ingredients have different specific densities they will separate out of the initial emulsion with time. tl;dr: smoothies don't keep.

I was reading in a lot of places that a food processor is a much better buy in the cheap range (sub $100) because it can do everything a blender can, but more power for your money. It just doesnt pour as nicely as a blender.

Just get an immersion blender. Then you can blend small or large amounts in whatever container you want and its about 10 times easier to clean and take up less storage space.

>> No.11375313

>>11375040
>Any truth to that?

I disagree. Anything you can do with a food processor you can do with a knife. OTOH, the real strength of a blender--making a really smooth puree--is either impossible or extremely labor-intensive to do manually.

I use my food processor maybe once a month. I use the blender several times a week: soups, sauces, marinades, you name it.

>>11375051
>Hard to beat that mass veggie prep
That makes sense if you're cooking for a LOT of people and you're making dishes like stew or chili where the consistency in the veggie chopping doesn't matter. For reasonable size batches of cooking a knife is faster than getting out the food proc and cleaning it when you're done.
