/ck/ I don't normally browse here but I need your help. I (through a series of stupid decisions) am responsible for cooking dinner for 5 people tonight. My cooking skills consist of being able to heat frozen food and ramen.

There is a shop nearby so I can easily buy ingredients, but my kitchen is fairly stock. I've got an oven and a stovetop.

So what the hell is something that is easy to cook enough to feed five people with. It should also be somewhat healthy.

basic burritos

ground beef+onion+spices+black beans
toppings like lettuce/olives/tomatoes/etc chopped and separated into bowls/cups with spoons
tortillas

you can also bake the tortillas to make bowls instead

prep will take 30-60 minutes

I have a few ideas that could help you out, but first i want to know if you possess the simple basics of preparing spices such as garlic and onions.

Home made pizza.

Crust mix
Sauce
cheese
pepperoni
whatever other toppings, but stuff like sausage needs to be cooked.

Watch a youtube video how people use crust mix and make pizza with it.

If you're awful or that worried about it, use a pre-made crust and lie about doing so, tho no one will believe you they probably won't cause a fuss over it.

Don't forgot to have an appropriately sized pan for it too.

I can dice onions and crush garlic yeah. I did home ec in high school, and I do occasionally cook for myself. Honestly, it's the serving sizes I'm most worried about.

>>11313321
That sounds quite doable

>>11313332
I would but I've had a lot of pizza recently, and don't really feel like having it for dinner, even if everyone else would like it.

Alright well, I'm about to go to the shops to buy some tortillas and ingredients. Can some kind anon tell me what kind of spices should I add to the mince? My mum let me borrow her spice rack so I probably have all the common ones. What tastes good in burrito mince?

Cumin. That's it. That's the big fucking mystery spice. Mother fucking cumin.

Paprika is good too.

>I did home ec in high school

Are you a literal baby boomer? I'm 29 and that shit was called life skills class or some other bullshit when I was in school.

Anyway, you should make lasagna. And you said you want healthy so do vegetarian lasagna. Serve with bread and salad.

Oh, I noticed your accent. I don't know how well a taco bar would go over in your country but it would be great or horrible.

Chop a kilo of tomatoes, put them on an oven tray with salt pepper oil and minced garlic, roast em

Put in blender with a lot of parmesan cheese, some basil, some oregano

Cook pasta until Al dente, penne, or rigatoni work well but spaghetti is fine

Fry some onions and more garlic with oil and butter, add spinach and cook until they're wilted a bit. Add the pasta and the sauce, stir it all through and simmer for 5 mins then serve with dill on top. Yum, nutritious, and vegetarian so even snowflakes can't complain.

Should do the tried and true dinner party winner of a roast with mashed potatoes and vegetable side of choice. Literally impossible to screw up as long as you can follow the most basic of instructions and guaranteed to be decent.

Alright anons, OP here. Thanks to you guys I got something respectable looking on the table. I tested the taste and it seemed fine. All that's left now is what everyone else thinks of it.

Also excuse the terrible camera quality, it's all I have to work with.

Besides a bit of a mess from the cheese it looks like any taco or burrito night at a average persons house. Especially from someone who doesn't really know how to cook besides instant food.

Is your eyesight that bad? Do you just like to shit on people who can't afford a phone with a 10MP camera? You sound like that asshat who made the shepherds pie.

Alright, OP here again. Just finished dinner. Two people didn't show up so I have a bit more left over than I intended. But the mince tasted quite nice and was well cooked, I was asked if I bought the special low-fat stuff because it was actually very good (for me at least).

I heated the tortillas okay (the packets said to heat them, I wouldn't have otherwise. And they turned out a bit crispy, but other than that, this was pretty good. Thanks anons, you saved my bacon (literally, I was going to slice up bacon, onion, potato and cheese and add it to a pan and fry it then throw in an egg. It's a dish I make for myself because it's tasty and easy)
