Whatever the store has. Sometimes I get fresher stuff from the local Hmong. More color is usually better than less color, so I get that if there's more than one option.

speaking of garlic, what do you guys do with black garlic? anyone got any nice recipes or ideas?

Used to love eating garlic raw with some pumpernickle bread. About a year ago I tried taking a bite out of a clove again though remembering how much I liked it and my stomach was in excruciating pain for an hour.

I haven’t seen a specific name on garlic even at super hippy co-ops.

haha is this a joke? of course I can eat any of that raw

>> No.11242841

Not sure on the variety of mine, looks Iberian. I'm eating some curry I made right now with about 1/2 bulb for two servings. When I worked doing hiking trail maintenance we would sometimes eat it raw out of a myth that it repelled mosquitoes (obviously didn't work).

I have eaten it raw before as a home remedy thing, but I'm more worried about other people suffering my breath.
I don't know what kind of garlic I use, but it's purplish and fairly mild, with large bulbs. It's what my local grocery store sells, so I assume it's a common variety. Garlic is probably my favorite thing to cook with, and has been from a young age. I don't even consider it a spice or aromatic most of the time, it's so prevalent in what I tend to make. I try not to overdo it, but I love me some garlic.

I love garlic, but never heard of biting into a clove straight up as being a thing. Why would it make a stomach hurt?

I cut them horizontally, give them a thin coat of olive oil and bake them in the oven til nice n soft

>> No.11243925

I get the kind that's off-white, except when I go to the other store and get the kind that's purple.

I liked the purple kind, and the normal kind. I didn't like elephant garlic when I tried it.

Morado Pedroñera.
I grow it myself, it's good, apparently won an award in Spain, but more importantly, it grows in my Dutch climate.
