Anyone know any decent tasting instant noodles that are not ridiculously high in sodium?

you can literally buy ramen noodles without any salty sauce packets, man, just the noodles, man. they're even cheaper.

>> No.11236454

>>11236451
There's clearly a distinct taste difference between the noodles without the packets.

>what is cooking

dude just make your own seasoning. little bit of diluted low sodium soy sauce, lots of spices, chili, oil, msg, dried or frozen vegetables, whatever. it's possible without salt.

Buy low sodium broth, buy just the noodles, then add stuff like carrots, onions, garlic, sesame, ginger, low sodium soy sauce, etc. Until it tastes to your liking.

Tldr: cook your own broth and use less salt

Do you currently have medically diagnosed hypertension?

If not, then who fucking cares. Sodium in your diet has never been shown to effect the blood pressure of people who don't already have hypertension. What few studies exist of patients who already have hypertension involve truly ridiculous amounts of sodium in excess of like eight hundred percent of their daily value.

So eat your ramen and stop bitching about it.

>Sodium in your diet has never been shown to effect the blood pressure of people who don't already have hypertension.
The colon's primary function is absorbing water and salt. And people who've had their colon removed show a statistically significant decrease in risk for hypertensive disorders.
>Colectomy did not reduce the general risk of CVD, but reduced the risk of hypertensive disorders, most likely due to salt and water depletion induced by colectomy.

You can confirm there's a massive amount of sodium not being absorbed in the absence of a colon by measuring the sodium content of ileostomy discharge.

That doesn't make any sense. Salt IS flavor.

Just use "savory" if you really need to talk about that meme flavor. "Umami" people are even more pretentious and obnoxious sounding than the people who say "mouth feel."

if umami is a meme why are there receptors for it in your tongue? also savory can also mean just salty.

no. but e.g. when you fry onions you get crunchy sugary stuff with flavor.

>> No.11236740

>>11236728
The word is a meme. There's a savory flavor, nobody's denying the existence of savory flavor.
>savory can also mean just salty
"Umami" is literally just Japanese for "delicious" so that's a shit argument.

>>11236446
Any of them. Just use less of the seasoning packet; replace with something that doesn't contain much sodium.

>>11236728

No. There's already a word for that: salty.

>> No.11236745

>>11236740
The meme is the important part. Without that based nip who discovered MSG, we wouldn't know about savory taste.

What? It shows when you remove a major mechanism the body has for absorbing salt (the colon), the patient's risk for hypertensive disorders goes way down. That means there is a connection between salt and the risk for hypertensive disorders.

>> No.11236800

>>11236795
That is the proof. You can measure the massive amount of sodium that no longer gets absorbed after colectomy (colon removal) by measuring the sodium content in ileostomy output. And when you remove the colon, the risk of hypertensive disorders shows a significant decrease. That's what the colon's for, absorbing salt.
