Americanized versions of food weren't created by Americans. They were created by immigrants from those countries. The food is simply changed due to a different way of life; for example, Italian food was introduced to America by people from Southern Italy, a poor region. They didn't get a lot of sugar down there, and when they came to America, they were eager to add it to all their food, since this luxury was now suddenly available in large quantities to them. It's the same story with American Chinese food.

I'm with you on human rights, though that's a touchy issue. I live in the US but my family is Danish. They've had multiple issues with refugee immigrants there. Ironically, that side of my family is screaming louder about walls than any American I know. Very confusing.

As for exports, yeah, they embarrass me. We can do better. But don't forget that the customer is who drives demand. The root of the problem is whomever is buying those exports. If they demanded higher quality or they wouldn't buy then the suppliers here would be forced to up their game.

Depends on where you travel to. America IS diverse, but in a different way.

I only really felt at home in MN, which is not where I was born. The foreigners around the twin cities are very welcoming and I'm so used to being on guard thanks to the east coast that I'm not likely to be taken advantage of (though I didn't see that happening outside of corrupt unions, towing services, ambulances). Even outside the cities people are more hospitable than the rest of the midwest and central US, and far better than the coast, and start getting real friendly up north like they do in St Paul. Minneapolis and some of the wealthier areas are meh. Not cruel though.
