>Getting a bucket of chocolate chip cookies
God bless this nation.

>> No.11229738

I've had them before, many times.
They're just simple chocolate chip cookies that tend to be better on hot days cause they get warm. Nothing special, but feels damn good to walk around with a bucket of em

Ex-minnesotan here:

The cookie buckets are worth trying once in your life. They're expensive, but they're perfect for sharing. There USED to be a milk bar right next door to the cookie truck where you can buy unlimited refills of any flavor of milk.

It's worth trying once. The beetus comes free of charge, of course.

I've only been to the state fair once but I have to say, the cookies are worth trying at least once. I'm never going back to the fair since it's busy as fuck. But the cookies are good.

>> No.11231139

>>11229768
The lines at the state fair move very quickly, 3-4 min wait at tops. and yes, no visit to the fair is complete without a visit to Sweet Martha's. When you first get them they have probably been out of the oven for only a few min, they serve them right off the baking sheet.

>> No.11231287

Actual Minnesotan here,

These cookies are meme tier garbage that anyone could bake in their own kitchen. If you're gonna waste money on fair food you might as well blow it on all the stuff that comes on a stick there.

>> No.11231293

What i'd do is get a big thang of iced cream and make endless ice cream sandwiches. Mmmmm. I love me some nice iced cream sand's.

Fresh? Yeah they're good. Not great, but good. As soon as they cool down they drop to okay, but it's a tradition to get at least one of the cones full of them at the end of the fair visit

>>11229585
For 40 cents at the fair, adjacent to meh cookie stand, you can endlessly refill a dixie cup with milk and drink of it until you fall over dead. Without the milk stand, which no longer exists, cookie stand loses its novelty and charm.

People like them because it's one of the few times they get hot cookies, because most are too helpless to ever bake any at home. The buckets are half filled with cool cookies the day prior, so the heat and steam don't turn it into a single mass.

this could be another fair food, say, on a stick, wrapped in prosciutto.

Dey a'ight. The first couple taste really good, then you realize that you're eating half-cooked, oily, mediocre cookies. Kids eat them all day. If you get the bucket, be sure to buy the all-day refills of milk at the booth across the street.

When I was at the Fair this year, Andrew Zimmern was filming a spot at Martha's. No idea when it will air. Or if it already has.

You can stop them from spreading out too much by just refrigerating the dough until it gets cold again, which makes the butter take longer to melt in the oven. >>11235110 is right though, vegetable shortening does spread out less than room temperature butter, but the biggest factor is probably cost. Vegetable shortening costs less than half of what butter costs. It's also probably unhealthier than butter too.
