How is Arby's? I've never been to one but everyone always talks shit on it and when I ask what they ordered they can't even tell me.

Specifically how are the gyros? I'm in flyoverland on business and craving a gyro and saw Arby's sells them

Everyone who says Arby's sucks probably hasn't been in the last year. They changed a lot of their menu and items, and a lot of it is pretty tasty (for fast food). I recommend the Smokehouse Brisket with medium curly fries and the horseradish sauce. Good combination of textures and the brisket is moist. A little greasy though. Fries are the best in the fast food industry hands down. Horseradish sauce is a good complement to both the sandwich and fries.

It's OK, they've upped their game substantially. Arby's is in the fast food 'weird place' alongside Sonics or Checkers in that it wants to be fast food but also 'artisinal' or some shit. Arby's leans more towards the fast food end, but you'll still find more sports bar like foods like their mozz sticks.

It's all very decent but overpriced.

their curly fries are praiseworthy

they've upped their game recently by diversifying beyond almost purely roast beef, but that was satisfying to me. i usually go medium roast beef w/ cheese and then mix their horseradish with the arbys sauce (like a tomato based bbq iirc) on slather it on the bottom bun.

additionally they've got pretty solid jalapeno poppers and a raspberry marmalade type sauce that goes impressively well with them.

all in all, if you eat fast food and havent tried arbys, youve missed out to some extent.

Arby's used to be really bad, like 10-15 years. The meat was noticeably not fresh and there were cases of people getting salmonella so many people stopped eating there entirely. They're still in business so I must assume they've cleaned up their act but having shit quality sandwiches is sometimes a hard reputation to shake

The gyros are pretty decent, but don't bother unless they have the lamb, that's the only one that matters. (And even then it's whatever compared to an actual gyro place, I'm lucky enough to have one right down the street.)

Curlies are still the GOAT fast food french fry.

Arby's has pretty shitty quality control. The farther you get away from their test markets, like Richmond, VA, the worse it gets. In Richmond its one of the best fast food options you can get, but even going only as far away as Philly, the quality drops pretty quickly
