What you guys think of this place? I stopped going here years ago because it was bland. Went recently, was still bland, but I'd probably go back because the fries are good and I hate myself.

a little spendy and a little greasy, but a decent burger. bacon could be better. i'm actually not a huge fan of the fries. too mushy and salty

They're good...for the first couple of minutes. After that they immediately turn limp and soggy. The cajun seasoning helps mask the shittiness.

I lived in virginia walking distance to the original. The only thing i can compare it to was the first time i heard Smells Like Teen Spirit. It changed EVERYTHING I thought I knew about burgers. It was so good.

Then they moved to the second location on King Street and shuttered the first. I was willing to drive the 20 minutes it took to get there because the burgers were so good. Then they opened up a few franches. Not as good.

It's still a good burger and sometimes I go out of nostalgia, but it's not what it once was.

If you like bacon tell them to smash your patty in bacon grease, or add salt to the patty. The one thing about 5 guys is that they will do what you want them to.

Went to an IN-n-Out for the first time this past year, once in the spring and then was down in CA again this fall. Tried it once and uh, okay, so I went back a second time thinking maybe the first one was a fluke. Rather than turn this into a blog post of all the ways it failed to meet the hype that everybody built up, can I just ask that you stop sucking the dick of an average local chain? It isn't the second coming, it isn't the best thing ever, it doesn't beat everything else hands down.

i'm not the only one who felt uncomfortable inside then right? everyone seems to try and go for a retro aesthetic these days, when i went into one a while ago it didn't feel like it belonged at all. Johnny Rocket, Steak and Shake all try and Johnny Rocket does it best but Five Guys just has something about the inside of the store itself that makes it all strange.

that being said i enjoyed myself when i went, enjoyed the food and thought all the peanuts were strange

They have a fine crust if you eat them right away. It's just that tight foil wrap they do that turns everything soggy and mushy f they sit more than 30 seconds.

went in one time when i was in london, starving after watching a show. the whole place seemed extremely cheap, but the burger tasted surprisingly good (though oily) and they gave me a huge amount of fries.

>> No.11223308

Realistically it tastes like any local burger place that uses fresh decent quality meat. Maybe costs 2 bucks more but you have the novelty of loading it with whatever. I'd say it's one of the better fast food chains quality-wise but realistically if I want fast food I want something cheap and passable so I nearly never eat Five Guys. In fact, I'd have to pass around 20 of the local places to get to one. I can see the appeal in suburbs and areas around workplaces but there's next to no reason for you to pass 50 bars and corner grill type places to pay the same just because it's Five Guys. I feel the same about Red Robin. Also since everything is to order consistency is a big problem at Five Guys.

There's a huge difference betweeen a burger being fatty and juicy and them soaking it in oil while cooking to try to hide how much they overcook it. For fucking $9 it should be cooked correctly, there should at least be an attempt.
