Fuller's London Porter is much better than I expected

Reminder that many American craft brewer Oktoberfest beers are more traditional and better than the beer now sold at Oktoberfest which were lightened and flavored down considerably in the last 50 years

Idk if it's a fact, but even if it is, being more traditional doesnt make something better

yeah, better or worse wasn't my point, I just find the fact that American craft brewers are reviving or restoring classic beer styles interesting. I am definitely not here to tell you what to like, just talking about beer

I've seen a surge of traditional eastern european and nordic beer recipes near me lately that have been super interesting. It turned me on to gratzer beers. It's like a meal in a glass. The traditional nordic stuff has been, strange. I dont even remember one of them but its filtered through some type of tree? Idk

MAfag here. Sam October is a staple and, at this point, a tradition.
If you go a full football season without drinking one of these, there's a tax penalty, plus some guy shows up and pisses on your back door.

Are sours actually good? I've only had this one and it has an aftertaste of vomit. Any recommendations?

>> No.11213721

>>11213665
Two good, relatively easy to find sours are Rodenbach and Lindeman's Grand Cru Oude Gueuze Cuvée René. If you don't like these, you don't like sours. Sours aren't for everyone.

Eh, when I first tried sours I was indifferent to them, but really love them now. You can definitely acquire the taste, as with anything.

Btw every try dry-hopped sours?

>> No.11213908

>>11213735
If you're equating Lindemans Grand Cru Oude Gueuze Cuvée René with Lindemans overly-sweet fruit lambics, stop that. It's wrong.
Also, Lindemans Oude Kriek Cuvée René is amazing and nothing like their typical overly sweet fruit lambics. It's tart as fuck and absolutely fuckwin.

I've had one and while I liked it, I definitely prefer my sours without a hoppy flavor. I'm not a big hops guy.

I have and cant stand the aftertaste the hops give a sour. I'm not even sure how to explain it. It's like stale, bitter funk. It's been there with every hopped sour I've tried too
