That it is. Neighbors are Korean, own a Japanese restaurant and are very generous every fall with giving me a crock of it :)

Really? That's sweet of them.

Kimchi is disgusting spicy shit for gooks who can't create a real culinary culture. Maybe they shouldn't have revolted against Japan. Then they would've been more civilized.

never thought it was a meme.

i grew up eating tons of cabbage.

introducing kimchi wasn't some major leap. just another variant to enjoy.

I didn't know kimchi was a meme.
Try it on top of a hotdog, bruh.

Kimchi varies so much in quality. I’ve had overpriced stuff from Whole Foods that was terrible and cheap stuff from chinamen stores that’s excellent. I think this is why a lot of people think they don’t like it.

I think people just "don't like" objectively good things so they can feel special. They learn the term "subjective," and think their tastes an opinions can't be stupid, but if differing can only serve to make them special.

Why even is kimchi a meme. It's sauerkraut with chili flakes and green onions in it. You could come up with that after an afternoon drink and half an hour of cooking shows.

European cabbage and kimchi have about as much in common taste wise as ketchup and bordelaise sauce.
