I currently am doing this OMAD thing. Started on monday and lost 1.4kg/4lbs since but I still dont know what to actually eat. Whats the best stuff I can eat for maximum results, which also tastes somewhat alright and how do I avoid ravenousness before/after my meal of the day

So you mean like protein, carbohydrates, fruits and veggies?

It's pretty safe to use a 1:1:2 or 1:1.5:2 ratio of protein/carbs/veggies as your guide (and not necessarily by weight, but rather how they fill up the plate). For example, a 6oz serving of fish with 6oz serving of rice pilaf ticks the first two boxes, then you could have a bag of steamed veggies or a big salad to go with it.

-lean, unprocessed meats with an emphasis on fish and poultry
-varied carbohydrate sources such as beans, rice, tubers with less emphasis on pasta and breads
-a wide variety of fruit and vegetable sources that includes leafy greens, fruits and veggies of every color, berries
-healthy fat sources such as fish, avocado, olive oil, flax seeds, nuts, etc.

Congrats, you just passed nutrition 101. Cooking it every day is the hard part.

Make sure to get enough protein, minerals, vitamins, and essential fatty acids.

Make your one meal be keto. That way your body is always burning mostly fat, only the source of that fat changes. Digestion of fat produces lots of leptin which makes you feel full, and very little ghrelin which makes you feel hungry., so you generally perc along on an even keel even after meals.

Protein. Not protein as in meats or w/e, the macro itself. I'm not here to shill any diet or protein source, but a high protein intake is proven to suppress appetite and my personal experience agrees with that claim too.

Also: caffeine. And on the flip side, alcohol is not only caloric itself, it also increases appetite.

Even if they had no nutrients at all, non-starchy veggies are good for padding out the volume of your meal.

Keep in mind that if you're cutting really hard, you can't really avoid feeling a bit... empty, despite being stuffed to the brim. You cannot perfectly trick your brain out of realizing it's starving. Again, protein helps here, but only a bit. I at least would also get a bit obsessive about food - that's actually what drew me to this board.

Truth (semi-)unfortunately. That's around 11000 kcals worth of energy deficit, you'd have to not just straight up starve, but also remain very, very active despite that.

this comment shows you know nothing about nutrition.

you want to eat fruit in the beginning and have a large salad for your main meal. look up wellness mogul on youtube he talks about this subject

>You cannot perfectly trick your brain out of realizing it's starving.
You can trick it 99%. I once fasted for many months to reverse my type 2 diabetes, and not only was I not hungry after the first few days, I actually felt full, and for the months of the fast I never thought about food at all. I think the keys are twofold: 1) the drop in blood sugar triggers production of hormones that make you feel hungry, so if your blood sugar is stable then no hunger pains, and 2) #1 is true only as long as your body has plenty of energy to fuel it's activity, but that energy can come from your body fat as easily as it comes from your meals (so don't fast unless you've got plenty of body fat). I think this is why the ketofags go on about how they dont feel hungry, even though they are eating and not fasting, because by avoiding carbs and minimizing protein they keep their blood sugar stable and avoid the fluctuations that triggers the production of hunger hormones.

Has the right idea I think. Avoid carbs, avoid overeating protein, and make the bulk of your body's daily energy come from stored fat. Since your blood sugar will be flatlined your insulin will too, and the other hormones tied to digestion (hunger, satiety) will be too. Eat olives and avocados and eggs if you want, they taste good and have a lot of nutrients, but avoid carbs like the plague. Your blood sugar will slowly drop, but it is ok. During my fast my blood sugar eventually dropped into the 40's and stayed there the last 3 months, with no ill effects whatsoever. The fast was successful, my type 2 diabetes reversed and has stayed reversed for 30 years now.
