So, at home I can make a nice cup of ceylon tea, with leaves and cream properly added.

I travel a lot for work and I have a big 1.5 litre thermos. Now one problem is, heat, the tea has to go in there as hot as possible. So I had been using milk tea powder for my road tea, just pour the hot water in and seal immediately and you get maximum heat retention.

Now, since I've acquired the desire to take quality home tea on the road, I think the biggest problem is maintaining proper heat levels. The tea needs to be brewed before poured in the thermos, so I can't simply put all the ingredients in the thermos and close, I need to stir them properly together too.

I can't reheat the tea in the kettle after the cream has been added. I don't know, maybe the microwave would work if I got a big bowl to reheat the tea in there?

You can preheat the can if you fill it with boiling water before.
When the tea is ready just replace the water with it.
Remember though tea shouldnt become too hot

so you think preheating the thermos by putting in boiling water and then dumping it out will sufficiently erase my heat loss? I could try that.
