Every time I've passed by since then, I've noticed that it always has a "Grand Opening" sign up. I finally decided to pry into it, and found out that the buffet is closed like every other two weeks for health violations and somehow manages to sweep away all the infestations before they come back for final inspection.

I went to visit cousins in Calgary one time and we went to some tourist area far from the main city. There was a pho restaurant owned by filipinos with no customers so we thought we would give it a try, we ordered and it took forever for the food. 15 minutes in, I see who I think is the chef, rush into the back from the front door with a bag of groceries and soon after the pho came which tasted nothing like pho. They were cheap on the meat and noodles too which was funny.

The worst restaurant I have ever been to is Basilio's Italian Cafe in Pullman Washington. The first time I was there, a friend had some flies climb out from their salad. And the second and last time I was there, it started smelling like someone left a used diaper somewhere half way through my meal. When I mentioned it to the staff they gave a bullshit response about plumbing and the place being at a "low" spot. None of the other businesses had this problem. Unfortunately you paid first or else I would have walked out without paying.

I later saw the owners buying all their supplies from Walmart. They loaded up on great value brand pasta, sauces, and frozen stuff.

In searching for their name, google implies this place has permanently closed. Thank fuck.

I went out with a group of 11 friends one night and we all drank a lot. The next morning we decided to check out a local breakfast place close to where we were staying. As we get there they split the whole group up and seat us at 3 different areas of the small restaurant, even though we were the only people in there. Then when the waitress is taking our orders it was like anything we wanted they had ran out of. The worst was that they did not have bacon. I do not know how you can be a breakfast place and not have one of the main breakfast items. I don't remember if the food was good or not but the whole situation was annoying to deal with especially when hungover.

Hah I never though I'd see Texarkana mentioned here. We always used to go to this Mexican drive-through place that was in a motel parking lot on that road that separated the Texas and Arkansas sides of the city. That, and this motel that would give breakfast vouchers at their restaurant. I stayed in the motel for a couple of weeks while my mom and stepdad looked for a house we could temporarily stay in. I was 12 at the time. It sucked - I shared a small 2 bed room with my mom, stepdad, and severely schizophrenic sister. I remember doing my hair in the hotel mirror before going to school and using the coupons for breakfast every single day. Then dinner was usually at some charity.

ya "dad" was a useless shit. we stayed for 3 months, and then my mom got a basement apt near by. It was close to her work, and I switched schools, so me and the owners son would carpool together every morning for the next 5 or so years until high school.

the motel didn't offer much for food, only breakfast (waffle machine, fruits, cereal etc.) but it wasn't so bad really. lots of friendly people around, who I imagine knew my story and took pity on me. It was interesting to say the least.

sorry your experience was so bad. we hear about situations like this all the time with work. We have funds set up to help long term tenants.

Was staying in a hotel on business in Illinois and they had a steakhouse/burger place attached next door. Got a BBQ Burger, fries, and a slice of cake. I've usually had pretty good luck with non-chain restaurants attached to hotels, but:

>Burger was literally inedible, like they threw a bunch of salt in the ground beef mix and not much else.
>Had this weird dry straw-like things on top that were not onions or anything I have seen on a BBQ burger and had a sour taste to them. They literally loaded the burger with these things.
>They gave what I think was a au-jus sauce to go with it, but it tasted like old dirty water and made everything it was on worse.
>Fries were soggy as fuck, to the point where they were inedible.
>Cake was dry as fuck like it was made a week or two ago.
>Place caught on fire in the middle of the night and caused pretty much the entire fucking fire department to come out and force us out of the hotel for 3 hours until it was fixed, meaning me and my co-workers were exhausted the next day due to a lack of sleep.

Found out later from the company I worked for that they had a list of good and bad places to stay away from, and the steak restaurant was considered one of the worst in town by multiple people. Everything else I tried on the good side of the list was pretty fantastic though, I will say.

A pizza place opened up down the street from my girlfriend at the time. This is a nice neighborhood with a couple really good pizza shops already. We picked up a pizza there it was so weird--theyd been open a couple months and there was literally nothing in the shop other than a pizza oven. No chairs, decorations, anything. She said she'd never seen any kind of advertising from the place. The pizza itself was aweful--basically a bread disc with hard cheese on it. You needed a microscope to find the tomato sauce or toppings.

They went out of business a few weeks later. I'd guess someone's dreams of being a restaurant owner exceeded their finances and common sense.

The worst restaurant was absolutely this new age "high end" restaurant in Asheville NC that was $60. It was startlingly terrible. The worst part was that the inside looked really nice and the waitstaff was awesome. But the food... god.

-Pork chop was supposed to be supplied from a farm they had personally picked to hand raise the hogs for them, but I'm certain that was a lie. I got a dry, tasteless pork chop that was pale white and looked exactly like the chops I saw at publix a couple hours earlier. It came with what I'm fairly certain was green pepper baby food. It was a mushy, zero texture puree that had no seasoning within a mile of it. It was like they boiled the shit out of a green bell pepper, stuck it in a blender, and slapped a spoonful on top. I love bells, but that seriously turned me off of green bells for a month. The butternut squash that it came with was ok but honestly, roasting the chunks in an oven with salt and olive oil was probably all they did to it.
-Friend I went with got a snapper that was supposed to come with a spicy broth but was instead literally the juice from roasted tomatoes, and what looked like a crudite mix that had been steamed and tossed around the fish. The fish was also dry as all hell which was a shame for a snapper.
-They upcharged us on a bottle of wine that was $20 in store to $60. They insisted that wasn't correct until I pulled it up on my phone, and then they still just said "well we have to cover undrank bottles."

I went so far as to write a yelp review (I know, sue me) because I was honestly stunned at how bad the food was for the price and the notoriety the restaurant had. They tried to bribe me with free dinner and comped wine to take it down, but honestly I'm never going back there. It was a huge disappointment and I can't believe we ended up with a $180 bill for lies.

That pizzeria place is located in Pica Pica Plaza. It's situated in a ghetto area of San Antonio. That place is super quiet and lonely on weekdays while on weekends you'll usually find that it's packed. Some of the shops are ok it's just really catered to Hispanic people. Anime Pizzeria is still there and it's not really noticble now since the food court area is moved to the back of the building last time I was there. I never got to try their abominations that they call food, but soon I will plan my pilgrimage there with some friends.

I don't really go to restaurants but my local KFC is the worst shit in existence, most of the chicken is greasy and days old. There is a 30% chance you will get salmonella poisoning (this happened to me 2 times) and the burgers are just mostly gross worm lettuce, mayo and chicken. Also the interior is always greasy for some reason, every time I sit down at a table it feels like it has been wiped down with fucking oil. The only positive is probably the chips but I can get better chips at a local fish and chips shop.

Like they had this dream of a restaurant, but their food was bad and you didn't like it so you just feel like a shitty person because you're one more guy who shit on these people's dreams but you also don't want to go back because the food was shit. Then you go home and you just feel bad for them because you can imagine them talking to their wife and kids and being like "You know guys, when business picks up we'll have a real Christmas but this year let's just give thanks for what we got" while their kids play with some broken power rangers toy from 1998 he picked up from goodwill because the rent at the strip mall his restaurant is in went up again

I went to a middle eastern restaurant with stuff like falafels and whatnot. I just remember the chef being middle eastern and fucking up my order and doing it after the people who came in after me ordered (they were middle eastern). Then he forgot something I ordered and when I brought it up with the owner it turned out he gave it to the middle eastern people and threw a mini tantrum because he had to cook it again for me. The owner was pissed with him because I guess they do service by having the cook bring the food to your table but he wouldn't do it for white people. Then I found a baby cockroach crawling through my rice, and I didn't see it until I was almost done with my food. I don't go back there anymore.

In my experience shitty places arent family owned, most of the shitty places i've been to are just another bussines from a bussinesman who knows shit about cooking or food industry. My mother had a small restaurant in our city and we had an average of 80 regular customers each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7am to 8pm. Probably had to do something about cooking with love, i never saw her tired or disgusted of her job. She had all kind of customers, from politicians to construction workers, everybody was allowed. Also she didnt have to pay rent since the place was owned by my parents. What i learnt from it, is that you need to make people feel at home.
