Generally not. Dog meat doesn't taste very good. There's a reason we mainly eat herbivores. But in a survival situation if that was the only thing between me and starvation? you bet I would.

It's bizarre that people think it's OK to kill some animals for food and not others. You're still taking a life either way. If the animal isn't endangered, it's on the menu.

I would certainly chose to eat my dog last, in the same way that if you had to resort to cannibalism and you were choosing between a stranger and a friend, you'd eat the stranger first.

Cows are made to be food, dogs aren't. Carnivores taste like ass, which is why we don't eat them. If I had to eat a dog or die, I certainly would, but I wouldn't eat my friend dog first. I'd choose every other dog in the world before my dog.

If I owned a pet cow that I named, let into my home, and kept strictly as a non-food animal, i'd feel the same way about that cow. It would be last on my list of cows to eat. Until then, cows are made to be food and they taste good, so i'm going to continue eating them.
